No it wouldn't. It IS an embarassment to the cheater Patriots. It should be a rule that if caught doing this you have to forfeit all your draft picks for 2 seasons and suffer a cap hit. Why so severe? Because ITS CHEATING. Intentional cheating just like using steroids or HGH. Really I believe there should be an instant year long ban for HGH and Steroids even if it means some of the best players in the league not playing. The NFL is way too soft on these million dollar cheaters.
LOL. I'm glad you're not in charge of the NFL.

When the Broncos were caught cheating the cap, they lost a 3rd round pick.

Can we get a merge...one thread on this crap until it fades away on Goodell's back burner is enough and your varying thoughts aren't novel or noteworthy...

Not looking for trouble here Mo, don't get me wrong.

But , sometimes, it is brutal to go through 300 posts in a thread trying to find new information or a different slant.

Isn't it OK to have a couple of threads going so as to make it easier to get additional info>>

Nothing will ever come of this. At the most, the league will quietly speak to the Pats if, and thats a big IF, anything happened. I mean really, this is NY, where every news report is slanted and distorted.

The very last thing the league will do is publicly punish a team for cheating, especially a team that quite possibly is the best team of this decade. This would be an embarassment to the entire league.

I think it is like the Colts piping in crowd noise.

I half expect it to be a set up and when they play it they get shots of Mangini picking his nose or the like or cheerleaders. I could see the Patriots doing that just to yank the Jets chain.

And yet your screenname honors a Charger who cheated. Funny how that works.

Neither am I. I think it's easier to go to last post read or last post in a consolidated thread than to wade through multiple threads on the same topic only to find nothing new, just more opinions. Seems to be the policy here to merge redundant threads for that reason, keeping the board manageable and free for good new threads to have a shot at getting noticed. IMHO people who start new threads on the same topic are just looking for more focused attention on their opinion. Face it, there is nothing new or additional here. That's the problem. That, and it's just attracting more trolls...

Kid, you are funny, but isn't it past your bed time??

I still don't get the big deal with this whole thing. It's just something else the crybaby losers of the NFL are doing to combat the big, bad Patriots because they can't win any other way. Yeah, the Jets made the playoffs last year, but does anyone really see them as a threat? Does anyone really think BB needs some stupid videotape to beat Mangini and that bad football team? Here's a newsflash for you kid, even if the Jets had Patriots playbook, they still could not have won that game!

Oh and let me guess, you always drive the speed limit, assuming you are old enough to drive, you always keep your eyes on your own test in school, you help old ladies across the street with bundles of groceries and you don't look at porn. Right??

In my expirience, the most pious among us are the worst sinners..

I am a bit worried for some of you who are sure its not true. So long as not everybody turns on the team if it ends up being true.

I just think it is hugely overblown, true or not.

I won't turn on anyone. This is why OC cover their mouths - teams try to steal signs - no big deal.

This isn't a redundant thread. At least it didn't start that way. And it was not my intention, nor my desire, to "focus attention on my opinion," so feel free to retract that random charge. The point of this thread - and it was REALLY clear - is Belichick's and the team's reaction moving forward; how I see this team CHANGING (or sharpening the focus of) their attitude to some degree. This is a perfectly legitmate tangent for a new thread.

You know what's fun, though? THIS tangent that you've taken US on. Really fascinating stuff - thanks!

Not to mention the-sport-that-shall-not-be-mentioned, but this issue comes up once or twice a year in baseball. All of the pitchers and catchers hold their gloves in front of their faces when they talk, signs change when a runner is on second base, blah, blah, blah.....

Here is another point, how is this video tape thing any different from Mangini bringing his New England playbook to NY?? Or Hank Poteat? Or Klecko when he went to the Colts? Please, the minute new guys get to a new team they are debriefed on the team they left....to me, this is worse, selling out your old employer to your new one. Well good fricken luck, it hasn't worked for the Jets so far!

The only reason this is being made a big deal is it's the Patriots. Every team does this and like a prior post stated----that's why coaches cover their mouth on the sideline. Overblown story that just should go away.

I completely agree....this is all so silly. But I have to say I am still laughing about the comment made in another thread about BB making sure the cameraman had a cyanide pill in case of capture. That was so damn funny.

What do we always say about BB having tape on everyone....Cripes the man has 5 Superbowl rings, three as a HC and now the only way people can discredit that is to accuse him of cheating. I may be a bit out of loop here, but I guarantee this is not even a blip on his radar, he is on to San Diego. It's the rest of us who are dealing with this nonsense and the stupid media guys who aren't talented enough to find other things to write or talk about.

This is football......:D

Well here's one thing - it sure has changed the conversation in New Jersey about how much of an egg Mangini and Co. sucked on yesterday.

Boy, calling the kettle black eh? By your name, you are obviously a Merriman fan. He hasnt cheated in the past has he?

Merril Hoge needs to be fired, right now.

Today on Sports-Center he said...

"If the Patriots are found guilty of this act, this will be no different than Barry Bonds for the NFL. Did the Patriots win all 3 of those Super Bowls fairly?"

I suspect this is more Bill is just making a statement, just like the stupidity of the injury report. Which has been changed this year. Maybe he's saying, if your not going to enforce this rule, I'm going to abuse it until you do. Maybe he got tired of being the only one not stealing calls and started making a joke out of it. I'm dying to read what was on that tape !!!
