Did the game in Athens this weekend and got to watch Brinkley up close.

First off he looks to be about 6'1" or 6'2" at best, but he is a legitimate 245 plus pounds. Decent speed for his size and has some quickness. Very physical player. Has a nose for contact. Vocal leader on the field. Really good at stiffing through the trash and finding the ball.

His instincts are not as good as I was hoping. The first step is not always true, and he got fooled a couple of times. Like most all college LB's his coverage skills could be better. I did not see him out there on special teams and we know BB prefers versatile guys.

The bottom line is he could be a 3-4 ILB and with a season or two of seasoning and instruction, could be a legit starter on our defense. He's not on the same level as Goff of Vandy when it comes to instincts and run stopping, but he is faster, quicker and better in coverage than Goff.

Thanks for report Ochmed. Was watching the PSU/ND game. Went to PSU and hate ND with a passion. Couldn't miss that game. PSU's defense looks very good. Dan Connor appears a little bigger than Poz. If we're picking 32, he might not be a bad choice. I think we'll have to use 1a on cb unless we sign Asante. I don't see that happening. Of course, if Meriweather looks more comfortable at cb than S. That could change things.

I'm curious to see USC MLB(Maualuga) this week against Nebraska. Nebraska has a decent running game and West Coast offense. Should get a look at him against the run and pass. Huskers were lucky to get by Wake. If Wake had their qb, they'd have beaten them.

? for ya. If you don't mind answering. Do you work for ESPN? Or, did you cover game as a writer? You can e-mail me response if you don't want to respond here.

I think, when healthy, USC has the best LB corp in the country, Rivers, Cushing and Maualuga.

I own my own production company and do contract work for the networks and cable companies. I do mostly the SE but have ventured into the SW and Mid Atlantic.

What kind of productions are you involved in?
I'm a EVS-operator here in Sweden..
