This is no knock on them, because I think they're both talented and while I am not a big Seymour fan, Rodney is one of my favorite players on the Pats.

But seriosuly, Jarvis Green performed exactly as I thought he would: like a man who deserves to be a starter. What did he have? 5-6 tackles AND two sacks? Pretty nice day. The O-Line did not miss Seymour at all.

And the secondary shut down two pretty good recievers in Coles and Cotchery.

I saw Meriweather fall behind plays and get boxed out on tackles a couple of times, but he's a rookie - he'll learn. Meanwhile, Adalius Thomas dropping back in medium coverage is an animal! This dude just makes us seem more physical and nasty.

And it's not like the Jets are the Lions or something. They're a pretty good team and one that usually plays us well. To shut down their running game and dominate them, 38-14, says a lot about our depth and coaching staff.

I don't think I could say Seymour would have made much of a difference with the way Green played. But I don't think we'll ever know what kind of a difference Rodney would have made with the way he was flying all over the field in preseason.

No. The Pats kicked arse without them. There are only five players that they can't substitute for right now, IMO: Thomas, Wilfork, Koppen, Brady, and Moss. Whaddaya think of that?

Indeed, the team stepped in without missing a beat.

I think both of these players will be missed more against a power running team lik SD.

For those in the know... last year against the Vikings Seymour was out and there was a lot of talk about how McKinne and Hutchinson were going to crush the right side of the Patriots D Line.

Does anyone remember if the Patriots did anything specific to counteract the Vikings line?

We're lucky to have Jarvis Green...very good football player.
But against the bigger and better left sides of Oline, he'll still need help over that way from the outside backer. I wonder how much the Chargers will run that way next sunday? Will be a good test.

I like to think about it the other way around: look at this team. Now picture them getting Rodney Harrison and Richard Seymour as a mid-season pick-me-up.

:D

Harrison for sure. Seymour, I'm assuming he's gone until we see otherwise. Not because I think he is but you know how those injuries are.

But it will be AWESOME to get Harrison back. You always miss a guy like that.

The Jets were able to move the ball on our secondary. Harrison will definitely make an impact when he returns. Right now the secondary is probably the weakest part of the team, with the possible exception of some special teams.

Yesterday, I did not miss them. We will need them in the future though.

The DL play made it easy to get by without RS but I won't want to discount the attention that he draws when he's in there.

I do think the secondary could have used RH, though, even if only for his on-the-fly direction. They looked lost on a couple of plays. I don't see the Jests throwing 2 loft passes into the endzone if Rodney is in the game.

We have good depth at safety, DL and WR. DL especially, as the safeties are still young besides wilson.

I was thinking as the clock was winding down how we were one game closer to Rodney being back but we didn't miss him today.

No, of course not. Please make sure that you bump this thread after next week's game.
