I'm going to be honest, when Hoobs caust the kickoff deep in the end zone I was yelling "don't run it out". I was yelling "don't run it out" until he reached the 20. Then I started yelling "run the thing out".

Be honest, how many of you sad the same thing?

And I don't like what he said about "my job is to run , it not to take a knee". He job is to do what is best for the team and what the coaches tell him to do. If the coaches tell him, "never take a knee", then that's OK. But he makes it sound like it's all up to him.

I agree. Hobbs did the wrong thing. He took it out when he wasn't supposed to. I expect he will get a talking to by the Special teams coach. He'll be following the rules in the future, or he won't be a returner.

I KNOW I was yelling at the TV and was convinced he was going to be stuffed at the 10 yard line.

It's like watching basketball: no!, no!, no! ............ nice shot!

No rules for Ellis?

I was thinking if Hobbs gets tackled at the 8 yard line or so he won't be returning kicks for a few games.

The Hobbit may only be 5'9" but he's much larger in the ego department!

My (almost) exact words were... "Look at this little BSer"(using the full word).

No doubt wrong decision and yet one of the all-time great individual plays in Pats history.

I am probably the one and only Pats fan who was NOT shouting "no!"

But that's just because I didn't see the play live :)

Lousy decision, spectacular play.

If Hester was in the same position, how would you feel, what would you think?

As I like to say, there's good decisions that get bad results and bad decisions that get good results. This was clearly the latter.

I wasn't just shouting NO, I was shouting "what the hell are you doing ?"

Hester always has the go-ahead to run it out. Hobbs does not. If he does, then "GREAT DECISION", otherwise, the ST coach will talk to him about the "rules".

I want Hobbs to run it every time.

I don't know if I was yelling, but I was definitely thinking "What the FARK is he doing?"

Simms even said it and then Nance concurred that they were both there, too!

Ellis proved us wrong on this one and I am glad he did, but still, as a rule, I would rather have him take a knee on balls 8-9 yard deep in the end zone!

Nice to have a Patriot hold the all-time record for Kickoff Returns for TD, though, isn't it?

I was saying, "Damn, looks like a touchback..." but my brotherinlaw said, "I think he's gonna run it out! He see's a hole!" and I said "What the funk..!" and in 3 seconds we were on our feet.

That is the reason no one will (probably) ever break his record with a 109 yd TD - besides so few kicks being kicked that deep, so few people have the guts (and talent) to run it out.

I definitely wanted him to take a knee, because since the kick went to deep, he could've easily been down at the 10 yd line.

That's one of those things that if you do it you better get to at least the 20.ie it's ok to try but it better work.

I agree, thought Hobbs was going to get killed by the mob of green at the 10-11 yard line.Bob Lobel mentioned it a few times in the post-game show, and how BB said Hobbs was "aggressive",you know BB was thinking the same thing....

I hope he doesn't get too carried away bringing it out from that deep in the EZ. Couple yards, sure. Bet he catches hell even though he got the TD.

Kudos to Coaches

Of course I was screaming "No!". What I find interesting is that the coaches give the player enough freedom to decide on his own (I'm sure this goes along with being accountable for the results). A little insight for me on who controls what, especially for those who would characterize Belichick as a control freak.

Welker is quoted saying that the whole team was pretty much saying, "No. No. No." then changing to, "Yes. Yes. Yes." Pretty much sums up the thoughts of everyone watching that play.

One thing that struck me was how fast Hobbs looked. It seemed like he was at the 20 before I even realized what he had done. And he ran with such confidence, I figured he saw something I couldn't. So, while my husband was yelling, "He shouldn't do that!", I was more like, "But he's doing it so well!"
