Asante didn't have a good day

Asante will be better next week, hes got a game under him, now he can start to get in game shape and get ready for the Chargers, I am not worried about him, he got better as the season went on last year too..

They forget, he wasn't the starting LCB last year out of a full camp. But after a few weeks he started clicking. Some fans, and I use the word guardedly, would rather dog a player than be greatful their team won a big division game.

Yes, because it's so great when any of our corners get beaten. Grow up.

Excuse me for being honest and having an opinion oh Lord Sooner Pat. Why don't you just lay out what I should be allowed to think from here on out Mr. Stalin. You obviously missed my point anyway.

Some fans, don't forgive certain players drastic overestimation of their own worth. Nor do they forgive a player who allows money to keep him from attending the funeral of a team mate. Some things you just can't let go.

It is hard to blame Asante for not wanting to be franchised, and for skipping camp. I put that under freedom of choice. The whole franchise tag thing is a compromise to help the league keep 'parity', not something that benefits the player at all.

But he is still rusty. Hopefully a good week of practice will get his mojo going. We are going to need him next week.

IMO, Samuel isn't as good in the red zone as when there's more field to cover. His size works against him more in the RZ and he has less field to break on a pass.

I actually agree with your analysis here...

Got it fine. A part of you enjoys watching Samuel struggle, even if it hurts the team, because of some silly childish grudge.

You're welcome to express your opinions. And I'm welcome to express mine, which is that yours is pretty stupid.

The team won and Samuel played poorly. Why can't people do both?

Only one game, he isn't up to speed yet and I hope he gets there fast.
The pats can't have enough depth at corner

Thats what you missed...Most of me wants him to do well because of the team, but there is that little part that thinks it's funny that he believes he is a top 5 corner. At no point did I wish for him to screw up at the expense of the team. And thank you so much for your permission to have an opinion.

Thank you. These are the same people who, a few years ago, were saying that anyone who wanted the troops to come home was "unamerican", and "against the country". Some people only want to allow bubblegum, "we love everything about the team" comments.

I love Asante. But more than that, I love the Patriots. Asante should have been in camp. By not doing so, he hurt both the team and himself - his options for next year are less marketable if he doesn't have a gang buster year.

Re: Asante didn't have agood day

I never thought Samuel was a top 3 corner but I actually think the one Coles caught was a better job by Samuel than the one he dropped. It was just a really strong and good catch by Coles. Samuel had his hand in there and most of the time, that's an incomplete. Gotta give Coles credit there because it was more of a good catch than bad coverage by Samuel.

Hobbs is still our best CB :)

It was perfectly thrown and a nice catch. His hand was still an inch from the ball. How would the arm chair experts have played it?

Tighter coverage at the start...he had poor position, and was lucky to be that close when the ball wa thrown.

Well maybe we'll put you on Coles next time.

Looked to me like optimal coverage and a ball thrown where only the receiver could get it.

I'm not sure they recommend totally tight coverage at the line, because of that touchdown thing.

Maybe Ken or someone can comment on that.

Asante had a mediocre game. That's fine. Everyone can't be great all of the time. We paid a tremendous cap proce because team wanted to franchise him. I expect him to have games and bad games. Personally, I just want him to be one of our top three corners, and to stay healthy all year.

it might of been me, but asante looked out of shape and not nearly as big last year. but we must all keep in mind he did miss all of training camp, so with that in consideration he wasnt that bad today

Samuel did not have a good day and will hopefully catch up quickly...I wish he had judged it important to be in camp sooner, but he didn't and that is that. It's his season to either have a great one as he did later last year or more just OK like he's been in years past.
I do hope the curve to his readiness is ramped up, for the team's sake and his...But I find it interesting how many thought he would be ready for this game and really negated, almost totally his need to be in camp at all. A week or so was ALL that was needed Or so many have said. And then there were all the reports about him being in great shape. Maybe..but not at all like he should be.
I hope that many have reassessed there view of camp and the need for players to be there. It's not like a player can miss most and be the same player that he would have been if he was there for the duration.
There are exceptions to that, but they are far fewer than many wish to believe.
I am glad he is with the team and I hope he will be all ready and improved so that the Pats can take teh Chargers next Sunday night.

the Patriots had a defensive unit today?

The offensive fireworks completed made most people forget about the good job the defense did today.
