Longest in NFL history:

108 yards.

That was a fantastic return. I'm so thankful to have Hobbs on our team.

As I said in the game thread. That will be one record that is tough to break. Congrats Hobbs.

Absolutely INCREDIBLE...great setup by the ST crew...one missed tackle and our boy is gone...GREAT PLAY PATS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Congrats to Ellis...what do you know...ANOTHER NFL RECORD!!! GO PATS!

Just looking at the replay.

Is it my imagination, or was Willie Andrews smoking him the last 40 yards???? :D

Not bad for the sorriest corner in the league.

Fundamentally speaking, with the punt that deep he should've kneeled it down for a touchback. But man am I glad that he made the most out of his opportunity. Congrats Ellis!

"What the hell does Hobbs think he's doing?!?"

*cue 6 second or so pause*

"Oh."

He probably should have but we know now he'll never kneel. The only touchback we're getting on a kickoff to Hobbs is one that goes out the back of the endzone or one that hobbs drops.

Wonder if BB cares that Hobbs refuses to kneel

First off:

:robot: HOBBS!!!!!!!!!!!!! :robot:

That's the thing, though--by the time the camera pans over, we lose sight of what's "ahead of" the returner. I am sure that Hobbs felt that returning the kickoff would get him at least to the 20, if not further. If he didn't feel that way, I'm pretty sure he'd take the knee.

Nope, not according to what he said after the game. Said he will never take the knee, he's taking it out every time no matter what (of course unless the coaches decide they don't want him to)

He broke Bo Jackson's record today,Correct or did Bo just run that far as a RB?

Or was it Hershell Walker?

They showed footage of it during the game today after Hobb's return... Roy Green for the Cardinals, 1979 last one to return one for 106.

The magic power of the intergoogleweb says the other two were:
Al Carmichael, Green Bay vs. Chi. Bears, Oct. 7, 1956
Noland Smith, Kansas City vs. Denver, Dec. 17, 1967

Ellis Hobbs the III stands alone at the top... pretty cool. My teenager got quite the kick out of being able to rib me the rest of the day because the first words outta my mouth when he brought it out were "That was a mistake Ellis. DAMNIT" 30 seconds later my kid's on his feet yelling "Mistake?!? Mistake?!? That was one AWESOME mistake!!!" :p

I called it.:rocker:
As soon as the Third Quarter started, I was saying, "watch him return it for a touchdown."

"What the hell does Hobbs think he's doing?!?"

"Oh."

Exactly what I was thinking/saying at the time!

I thought that he wasn't going to make it to the 10 for a minute there... and then it looked like he wouldn't get past the 20.... but I was amazed at how Corey Mays and Willie Andrews ran the entire way with him...

Yup, that's the kind of play where everyone is screaming at him, "Don't do that! Don't do that! Great play! Great play!" :)

That play by Hobbs and the supporting cast - some great blocks in there, let's not forget - was electrifying as it gets. Move over, Devin Hester ;)

Hobbs didnt even hesitate. as soon as he caught it he ran. gutsy. but confident i guess :)

Think many of us had the same reaction, as that kicked was boomed deep in the end zone. After he juked the first two Jets, the rest was literally history!
