Charlie Casserly reports it's 60% of the snaps/12 wins for Samuel not to be franchised next year.

Re: Official Pats/Jets Discussion

Interesting - Casserly says Asante's no tag deal parameters are 60% of the snaps or team wins 12 games. Briggs is strictly % or plays but at 75% (I believe he played 90% in years past).

is that an "and" or an "or"? I'm guessing the latter.

Samuel needs to play 60% snaps or 12 wins

Per Charlie Casserly on the The NFL Today in order to not be franchised next season.

LOL I should switch back to monitoring the radio pre-game, but Gresh grates on me so much I can't...

It is an OR on Asante's terms. I guess Briggs didn't want to touch that one given his QB situation...

Hopefully he reaches both anyway

Yeah, not sure what my brain was thinking there. Both will do just fine.

Nice knowin' you, Asante. (P.S. Thanks, Rodney, for losing us a #1.) Eh, F it, it's opening day!!!

A gimme, then.

If that is the concession I can't believe it took so long to get him in camp.

Hate to be a stickler for details but did they just say 60% of snaps? Or did they make a point of saying for Defensive snaps?

That's a pretty significant difference.

Should Assante ever suffer an injury someone will want to start crunching numbers. With only 16 games, missing even 2 games is going to boost that 60% a lot higher for the games he plays.

NOthing to say this good faith leads to a long term deal - which may have already been ageed upon in principle with a handshake.

Even if not - we have a happy Asante who is once again playing to GET PAID and I like how he played that way last year!!

Plus, Pats don't look like hard asses either...

Thanks for everything Asante..

I have a very strong belief that Asante is going to play even better than last season because he wants to get paid.

Gotta love contract years.

Why can't you believe it? What possible incentive would Samuel have to show up early in camp, run two a days, take part in pre-season games and risk injury?

Obviously he's not getting a dime more under the Franchise Tag no matter how early he reports to camp. He'd be stupid to unnecessarily risk injury.

Therefore the ONLY thing that would make sense is for him to wait until 2 weeks before the season starts to show up and sign the tender.

The only reason Briggs showed up sooner is they advanced him $1M of his guaranteed money so he could buy a Lamborghini...

I don't think this had anything to do with Rodney either. The rumors of Asante coming in and talks heating up preceded his suspension by weeks. This was just business, much as some here don't want to admit it. They wanted him starting week 1. But somehow it's easier for them to blame it all on Rodney.

Casserly, isn't that Belichick's buddy?

Why do you get so riled up and blow things so out of proportion?
