My hubby just asked this question, and I don't really know. I suppose it will be Welker on punts (although I can't remember him doing it much and/or looking good at it during preseason), and maybe Hobbs & Faulk on kickoffs?

Hobbs is definitely our best kick returner, but I'm not sure if he's going to still be in that role or not come this Sunday.

Definitely Welker on punts. They're not worried about him being a reliable returner.

Hobbs, Maroney? kicks.

I doubt we'll see Maroney out there. Maybe Hobbs.

I don't want to open a floodgate here.......and I know what the conventional theories are......but considering our continual injury at the CB position, I'd rather not see Hobbs back there. Maybe throw CJ out there after week 6 so he can earn his keep (cause we know he isn't getting a lot of reps with the 1st team offense).

Punts: Welker

KOs: Andrews, Morris

I'm all for saving valuable guys, but that's a lackluster duo.

Yeah, you're probably right. Sub Hobbs for Andrews, and pray he doesn't get hurt.

I got a feeling we're going to get a does of all of the above.
And Maroney will be in on that rotation. Wouldn't surprise me.

Having your starting RB return kicks? Yeah right.

I think it's tactical. They'll rotate players, and save Hobbs for the times when they need a real kick in the pants.

I vote for two of Faulk, Morris, and Andrews as the regular guys, Hobbs when they want something special. Not Maroney any more, please. Usually you don't want someone who lines up on the first down offense, anyway.

Welker always on PR.

Stallworth? He did it one year and his average was just that, but he's fast and has hands.

Can Andrews compete in that area in the pros? Morris seems like Patrick Pass, solid, but neither speed nor elusiveness.

Hobbs does have that fast twitch.

I don't like Maroney there either, because he invites contact on those returns.

While I agree with you, BB has no problem putting starters on special teams. Let's pray he doesn't get injured.

I read Sammy Morris at KR somewhere recently and thought the same thing - isn't he a little lumbering for that job? I understand not wanting to risk Hobbs in that role, 'though it IS fun to watch him back there, a real weapon. Ditto on LoMo.

I would have to think Andrews will see some kr oppurtunities.
Is'nt that part of the reason he made the squad?

Special Teams is the one and only aspect of the game where I'm confident that the Jets have the edge.

Has he returned kicks? If so, how did he look?

It just seems that teams like to feature a game breaker as the main returner and a more lumbering, sure-handed guy as the other returner on KO's. 90% of the time the main returner will get the ball and have the lumbering guy as a lead blocker (unless the K can directionally kick to the slow guy - but I think that's easier said then done and can result in the ball going out of bounds).
