I was kind of hoping the Pats bring himin for depth.

I always liked him as a player, although he does have a reputation.

ANy thoughts?

He has been a good player, anyone know why he was cut?

I was trying to research that. Couldn't find anything. Some talk was the price to keep him and what he brought to the table as the Raiders young safety Huff seems to have solidified that spot.

I don't like the idea, IMO. To bring him in just until Rodney gets back... nah. Plus, he's not as good as he used to be anymore. Also, if the Pats need depth at safety (short term), they can re-sign Hawkins who has more experience in our system. I know he's not a very good safety, but he would probably do better as a short term option. Darius, or any other outsiders, would have a harder time learning the system and gelling with the secondary.

He's had knee and ankle injuries in the past that have ended his season. I think he may be worth a look and a platoon with Sanders, Wilson, and the rook in the short term.

Very good career untill he cooked ACL second game of 2005 season. Missed the

rest of the season. Went to the Raiders and is now out.

Takes 2 years to recover from an ACL, most of the time. Could be worth a look.

-JMO- though.

Darius is a nasty hitter and would bring the intensity to the secondary that will be missed in Harrison's absence. Problem is who would you cut to make room for him?

No need to cut anyone. They are at 51 right now. Room for two more!

We don't have to worry about cutting anyone right now as there's currently two roster spots open. Bring Darius in and let him battle it out with Baker for who gets to stay whenever Harrison returns.

In that case, as long as he doesn't cost much, bring him in!

(I don't think the Pats will, though)

If he is on the opening game roster, you have to pay his salary for all 16 games, even if you cut him after week one. It could be a very expensive tryout. Best to wait until after game one.

Didn't we just fill those two roster spots with Rivers and Herron?

DD has had 2 yrs to recover from the ACL. If money can be worked out

bring him in for a tryout.

That was a Wierd move byt he raiders, since i know alot of raider fans were happy to have the guy over there instead of stewart.. Double D though will make a good starter or backup for who ever picks the guy up..

I actually like Donovan Darius's style of play, but at this point I think it is just too late. He would need a full training camp to learn the sytem in order to be a real contributor. At this point I would rather have Artrell Hawkins back.
