In a hurry but lets get this going, build your own PS. Don't worry so much about who is elligible or not, lots of people here know all the rules.

IMO the PS serves two purposes, additional depth for the season and to a lesser degree player development.

I like to see balance in the PS, players from multiple positions (not 3 punters). Maybe something like this, 2 OL, 1 WR, 1 CB, 1 DL, 1 RB, 1 LB, 1 S.
The S, LB are prime special teams candidates.

I don't expect all these players to clear waivers but what the heck.

OL - Elgin, Oldenburg
1 WR - we don't really need a WR on the PS this year so I will defer
1 CB - Anwar Phillips or Dustin Fox
1 DL - Orien Harris
1 RB - Kenneth Darby
1 LB - Anthony Schlegel , Rogers
1 S- Josh Gattis

It's funny ... how i get so caught up in our own no-names
that i tend to automatically fill up my mock p/s with them.

But, boy, do you cast far afield ! Only two of our campers.
I like your range of vision.

Kyle Eckel seems better to me than Quinton Smith ...
and we shall have an RB on there.

Clint Oldenburg
Mike Elgin
Justin Rogers
CJ Jones
Santonio Thomas
Garrett Mills (if eligible)
Josh Gattis (would love to see that, didn't know he was cut) who drafted/cut him?

Leave no stone un-turned...

Quick question for those in the know about the waiver \ practice squad process.

My understanding is that when a player with less than 4 years of service time is cut it is referred to as 'being waived' which means he has to pass through waivers before becoming an UFA. Teams may submit a claim for the player and is awarded based on the standings (previous season if waived during the off-season), worst teams get first dibbs. Once claimed the players must be placed onto the active 53 man roster.

Veteran's - More than 4 years service time are UFAs the moment they are cut.

Practice Squad - If the younger players are not claimed on waivers and placed onto an active roster they are essentially free agents and can sign with any team's PS with a contract they negotiate directly with the team, the contract can range from the minimum to the equivilent of a regular contract (see Yates), all the PS contracts count against the cap.

My list includes some from other teams who are likely not of interest as we've seen what the Patriots think of this past draft. But anyway :

OL : Elgin, Oldenberg
TE : Mills
WR : Kight
LB : Quentin Moses, Rogers
CB : AJ Davis
S : Josh Gaddis

Eckel is a FB,. Quinton Smith is a RB.

Smith ran pretty well for the Pats.l

Kight is no longer eligible because he was on the active roster for more than 6 games last year.

Oh, thanks. He seemed like nice protection for our WR but I guess not.

I'd like to have Jon Abbate, I thought I read somewhere that he was cut. Other than that, from our team, I'd like to keep, Mills, Rogers, Oldenburg and Childress. Then maybe pick up Darby.

And there is a question as to whether or not Mills is eligible as well..

Impressed by Box's series of reports on Brian Barthelmes in NFLE,
i'm not going to believe that he was the worst of our backbench OLs.

But he was the first dismissed.
I am inclined to view this as a misdirection play:
give the kid who already had played a season in Europe some time to recuperate
... while "hiding him out in the open".

I look to see him reclaim a locker tonight or tomorrow.

I have a feeling we'll re-sign mostly our own. We've all noticed the 3rd-5th round picks who have been released, some of whom we liked back in March and April. But with the Patriots having passed on them in the draft and now being cut, it's just re-enforcing how weak this past draft was.

Strong list. I hope to keep Mills, as this was a lousy year for drafting TEs. A pretty weak draft overall, as the release of some highly touted rookies shows(link from draftdaddy.com): http://colts.scout.com/a.z?s=113&p=2&c=674512

agree with DaBuinz re: Quinton Smith. Wouldn't mind adding him to the ps.

Someone from the Jets who won't cost us several hundred thousand dollars to pick up and mine for information.
