REPORT: WADE WILSON ADMITS TO RECEIVING STEROIDS, HGH by Michael David Smith

A day after it was reported that Patriots safety Rodney Harrison has been suspended four games by the NFL for admitting to obtaining human growth hormone, Gary Myers and T.J. Quinn of the New York Daily News report that Cowboys quarterbacks coach Wade Wilson is involved in the same investigation.

The report says that Wilson admitted receiving steroids and HGH from Signature Pharmacy in Orlando when he was a Bears assistant from 2004 to 2006. It is not clear whether he obtained them solely for personal use or whether he shared them with others. Wilson was an NFL quarterback for 18 seasons, almost all as a backup.

Per the Daily News, Wilson "faces a yet-to-be-announced punishment." League discipline rules aren't as clear-cut for coaches as they are for players, but it's safe to say the league is not going to look kindly on an assistant coach who's involved with performance-enhancing drugs.

The Daily News report indicates that things could get worse for the NFL. According to Myers and Quinn, Harrison and Wilson "are the first of what is expected to be many connected to the NFL to arise in the investigation."

Since Wilson is a coach..I wonder if they will investigate to see who took them?? Seems fair enough..I think this is only the start of things...HGH is nOT easily discovered in tests...and I would bet many take it knowing that...so the only way it can be found out was through some outlet of distribution...Wasn't there a team doctor also involved??

Cowboys | Wilson suspended for five games
Sat, 1 Sep 2007 10:47:08 -0700

The Dallas Cowboys announced assistant coach Wade Wilson has been notified that he is suspended for the team's first five regular-season games and fined $100,000 for violating the NFL policy on performance enhancing drugs, according to an NFL spokesperson. Wilson has acknowledged purchasing and using such prohibited substances. Evidence supports his statements that he used the substances for personal use only, did not distribute the substances to other people, and has stopped using those substances. He is eligible to be reinstated Oct. 9.

That's 1 more game than Rodney got, for those keeping score at home. At least Goodell is sticking by "coaches and other employees will be held to a higher standard than players."

So common sense would say that Bears are likely to be involved in this.

Hello Tommie Harris and Mike Brown

I remember Grossman getting injured a lot.

hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm i wonder if Rex is involved.

That means he sucks a lot more than we thought he did.

More on the investigation (the article has been updated above this portion to name this assistant - Wilson, as we know):

League sources confirmed to ESPN and ESPN.com that at least one NFL assistant coach has also been questioned in recent months by investigators as part of the probe and faces disciplinary action because he also has been linked to HGH in the same investigation.

The admission by Harrison has not been made public, but his name was among those known to federal and New York officials conducting a large-scale investigation into an Internet pharmaceutical distribution ring for steroids and other performance enhancers, such as HGH.

The investigation was instigated by the Albany County district attorney, and involved New York Bureau of Narcotics Enforcement agents and an Orlando, Fla,-based federal task force. In February, state and federal agents and representatives from other law enforcement entities raided two Signature Pharmacy outlets in Orlando, and several Florida clinics alleged to have supplied prescriptions for performance enhancers to professional athletes.

Also, the owners of Applied Pharmacy Services in Mobile, Ala., which is alleged to have provided performance enhancing drugs to athletes, were indicted in Albany County.

As part of the Florida and Alabama raids, it is believed that investigators discovered the names of several athletes, but it is not known if Harrison was among them.

Earlier this year, Albany County district attorney David Soares said that he would provide the NFL, Major League Baseball and any other leagues the names of players believed to have made purchases through the alleged distribution ring.

NFL and Major League Baseball officials subsequently traveled to Albany to meet with Soares and other investigators.

Gee, that was fast. He must have told them straight up he took it all to help his coaching assisting performance and then stopped cold turkey when he got a less demanding gig as a QB coach... Guess the commish won't have to pull the special forces off the dog fighting trail...

Read over on KFFL that a Steelers team physician has been let go as well.

Re: Cowboys QB coach Wade Wilson implicated in same HGH investigation; suspended 5 ga

Hopefully this doesn't come back to bite me but I'm glad it was a Patriots player and NOT a coach that was busted. If a coach is tied to illegal PEDs it casts a shadow on the entire organization and every player.

Re: Cowboys QB coach Wade Wilson implicated in same HGH investigation; suspended 5 ga

Sounds like this might be the tip of the iceberg and after Vick lied to the commisioner, no one is going to go that route. I'm thinking with all the power Goodell is wheeling, and the lack of a strong union, that the NFL may be the first league to test for HGH.

Re: Cowboys QB coach Wade Wilson implicated in same HGH investigation; suspended 5 ga

I can't believe I'm the first one to say this, but...HOLY CRAP!

Re: Cowboys QB coach Wade Wilson implicated in same HGH investigation; suspended 5 ga

That "HOLY CRAP," by the way, was from back in the time when I stupidly thought this was about Wade Philips.

Goodell could care less if Grossman took anything illegal or not. He sucks anyways and hes a disgrace to the NFL enough as it is.
