Could this be the start of a great career by a guy being forced to jump into a starting Safety role which I think is the case here?

We all know Brandon has versatility and has all the talent to play well as a starter in the secondary in his rookie campaign,Here is his chance along with Sanders or Wilson to make a good combo.

Maybe he comes in a becomes an immediate contributor out there with Sanders/Wilson and makes it hard for Harrison to get his job back in week 5?

This hopefully has the potential of a Bledsoe knocked out of lineup and Brady coming in and we all know what happened then.

Rodney will probably get it back if the team does not do its type of suspension and make him sit even more but you never know.

Also no one had addressed the possibility of a strict punishment to Rodney by Kraft and the FO..It could be more than 4 games at thier choice if they so desire.

Crazy to compare a player with a drug? - Maybe (will probably get flamed for this weird type of comparison but you know what I mean and really I don't care if I do get bashed for it)

Crazy to say a job may be hard to get back if another guy proves he can do it and well? - maybe not so.

You're underrating Rodney as a player.

I hope so. At Rodney's rate he wouldn't last the season any ways. This gives Kraft the option to cut ties with Rodney and move forward with youth.

not really. There is only one starting QB in every team and he has a very specific and important job. The hit that knocked Drew out of his starting position was several magnitudes more important because of that fact.

Rodney is a good player NOW

He was a GREAT player 2 years ago and before then his whole career..but he is not getting any younger and if we lose Rodney it will be more of a loss of a spiritual leader on the field and in the locker room than it will be for being a difference maker in a game IMO,He can still hit as hard as anyone but actually having the speed to get to a quick wideout running down the sidelines is another thing.

Do not be surprised if the Krafts do cut him or Rodney himself decides to retire as feeling the embarrassment of this proud man's career in the NFL having a big asterisk next to it now.

If any player who is so proud of his performance on the field that would suddenly decide to quit because of something he did wrong it would be Rodney,I truly wonder if he is the kind of guy that can face the guys in the locker room and the adoring and devoted fans of New England after this.

After all I cannot remember a drug scandal like this before or at least in some time regarding the Pats.

As far as I'm concerned, this is helping keep rodney healthy for the latter part of the season. As much of a bummer as this situation is, thats the light at the end of the tunnel, for me, at least.

When suspended by the league for substance abuse, can the player workout with team still, or is it a no contact whatsoever policy?

I am almost sure you cannot be anywhere near any part of the team until your suspension is over.

Then why are suspended players allowed to play in the pre-season? I'm pretty sure suspended players can still practice with the team.

Well,Pacman was not allowed and I think this will be a changing thing in the Goodell era where suspended players stay home.

Chris Henry is suspended for the first 8 games and he's been playing in pre-season. Pacman is suspended for the year and the Titans want nothing to do with him right now.

Vick was another who was told to stay away prior to the charges officially put against him so at this point I guess it matters on the severity of the charges,Even if the player is not convicted yet of any wrongdoing.

When you can say that Chris Henry is a better person than those 2 mentioned above its a sad world we live in and a sad group of several players the NFL has in its organization and I think it will get worse before better.

I don't think so, because Merriweather could play WITH Rodney and learn from him on the field, whereas Brady may or may not ever have seen the field if not for Mo Lewis.

cut ties with the heart and soul of your team??? you dont have a clue

This was one of my impressions too. Don't get me wrong... we're going to miss him for the SD game... And October will be tough when he's still coming up to speed... but come January, when other players are playing games 17, 18, 19, he'll be playing games 13, 14, 15.

No, I don't think this analogy works because, unlike Bledsoe, Rodney actually enjoys playing football and is looking forward to coming back.
