I was shocked when I heard Darius Walker had declared for the draft earlier this year.

Like so many before him, he went undrafted and was just cut by the Texans.

It really does make me sad to see guys like him basically destroy their football career by leaving early and never really catching on anywhere. Not to say he would have had a fantastic career or anything (maybe he does catch on somewhere) but you figure he will be nothing more than a journeyman player for the rest of his career if he even has one.

He's not even the only underclassmen to lose his job today. FB/LB Jon Abbate was also cut by the Texans.

Wasn't the first time. He was cut once, possibly twice IIRC, this summer by the Texans.

I remember that now. They had some injury problems at RB so they re-signed him and brought in Pass the same day.

Walker was not going to start for the Irish this year anyway...they have better RBs coming into this season. So, in his case, he made the right choice. I agree with staying in school though for most players

Honestly? Walker didn't make the right choice. He should have stayed in school regardless of whether or not he started because if he had, he'd at least have his degree. Now, classes have already started and its not likely that they will let him back to complete his schooling prior to the Spring semester. Which means he's got to go find a job doing something until then.

OH, and I'm pretty sure that Walker was on a scholarship so he'll have lost that and have to pay for his schooling himself.
