Pats tryouts

The Patriots had the following players in for tryouts today:

# Punter Sean Douglas (Washington)

# Punter Paul Ernster (Northern Arizona)

# Punter Ken Parrish (East Stroudsburg)

# Punter Sam Paulescu (Oregon State)

# Tight end Jason Rader (Marshall)

# Running back Derrick Wimbush (Fort Valley State)

Ernster was the Broncos' full-time punter last year.

I will be the first to say that I have no idea what the Patriots are doing, nor what they look for when it comes to punters.

Baugher and Hanson both seemed to do a good job but apparently not.

Baugher and Hanson both seemed to do a good job but apparently not.

Baugher may have done a good job, but according to a poster on Planet he was arraigned for battery on Thursday - reportedly against his father after the two had been out and around together.

Jeez, what EXACTLY are they looking for from these punters?

Wimbush was just cut by the Jags. FB/TB hybrid, return experience.

Rader was just cut by the Dolphins. Was on and off their roster last year.

Paulescu is a UDFA and was cut twice (re-signed once) by the Cowboys this summer.

Parrish is a first-year player (2006 UDFA) and was just cut by the 49ers.

Ernster is a converted PK who was the Broncos' P last year after Sauberun was suspended, cut, and exiled to the Pats. He was just cut also.

Douglas is UDFA who was just cut by the Buccaneers.

...and that's all I know off the top of my head...

Paulescu received a quick look see by the Pats last year. He was a UDFA who tried out but was never signed to a contract.
