I am sorry I think he is more injured than the Pats are stating, I think there is a good chance he starts the season on the PUP.

I know its a position that the Pats have some depth in. But with Warren banged up, I am concerned. if Seymore is not playing, we lose all depth, and our dlineman are forced to play more downs the rotations are smaller, and that leads to more injuries.

Not to mention just losing Seymore, no matter how good Jarvis Green is as a backup, takes a hit on that unit.

I am suprised I do not see much of Seymore's injury on this board. To me this is a very very big deal. Way more important than Moss's hammy.

To me this is a number one issue of the pre season so far. And the 2nd issue (What ever that may be, secondary, Moss, old LBs, etc.) isnt even close to as important as this. Like miles away in as important.

I've looked for a "Seymore" on the roster, but haven't found him...so I would say don't worry ;)

Every week it seems there is a post just like this. The good news is that with the existing DL depth, Seymour, who had offseason surgery, can work his way back to ensure he does not expose himself to further injury and is ready to resume his level of play. If you've watched the preseason games, you've seen Jarvis Green and LeKevin Smith look great at DE. Also, Ty Warren is now practicing in pads. There is no issue with Seymour regarding a "secret" injury. He's just working his way back, and the DL is fine in the meantime, and will be finer when he resumes his position.

It seems like we go through this every year at this time, and then he just goes out and wrecks fools all season long.

He had surgery. He played most of the year with that and at least two other injuries.

He's healing. Relax, it's going to be magic!

THE PATRIOTS STAFF IS BEING EXTRA-CAREFUL with a few guys, Moss and Seymour among them. No need for worry, IMO. Especially, but not exclusively, because of the obvious depth at DL.

He was on EEI yesterday with Rodney. He didn't sound like a guy that was going to be missing any significant time.

I'll take my chances with Wilfork, Warren, Green and Wright.

You know what we need? A president of the Le Kevin Smith Fan Club.

1) No. You are not the only one worried about him. I share your concern.

2) We won't have a chance of knowing what's really going on until he is PUPPED for the beginning of the season or he shows up on the roster ready to play. I think either could occur.

But I like our chances better with Seymour in there..when you look at this on paper, this is an outstanding D line..

I got a different impression from that interview. Not that I ahve any worries long term, but I do think that Seymour could legitimately miss a few games and I won't be totally shocked if he does end up on reserve PUP.

FTR, prior to the interview I thought that Seymour was just getting some love from the team and could have returned. Something about that clip, though rubbed me the wrong way.

I'm at the point where i have full trust in BB. What ever is going on I know BB will handle it. Thats why i don't worry about anything. In BB I trust.

I'm much more worried about your inability to spell the last name of one of the team's most important and well-known players.

I believe Richard said he wouldn't likely return unless he could be
"dominant". That was a strange word to use and got me thinking.
He has played injured and has not been his dominant self.
Can't Jarvis provide what Richard does when Richard is not dominant?

It's a long season. What do you gain by rushing Richard back if he can't
be his dominant self?
I would rather he sit until he can come back as his dominant self ... fully
healed. PATs have enough depth to do this. IMO

Dominate, that is funny, The only time players can dominate is before the first training camp practice. After that every player is banged up. He played hurt for most of last year and I think he was stung by the criticism when he did play poorly (Jets, Chargers).

I hope he is back on the field for the game against SD, they are a power running team and we could use the big man. Mike Wright has missed 3 preseason games and Kareem Brown is nicked up. The depth is being chipped away but it is still a very talented deep line. I can't wait to see Warren, Wilfork and Seymour on the field at the same time.

Powerful insight there, JR !
Jarvis plays as well as a 90% Richard.
And that DL does sport depth.

How unfair to the rest of the NFL
if a very powerful Patriots team dominates the first half of the season
... and then receives Richard Seymour ... Dave Thomas ... Troy Brown ... Chad Jackson ... and Eddie Jackson
as reinforcements from PUP
for the stretch run !

The Eddie Jackson, wow this team is deep. Your point is taken, cutting some marginal performers and replacing them with healthy high caliber starters after game six would make the team even scarier.

Although the start of the schedule is pretty tough.

Regular Season
Sun 9/9 at NY Jets - potential playoff team
Sun 9/16 San Diego - playoff team
Sun 9/23 Buffalo - divsion game, should dominate
Mon 10/1 at Cincinnati - potential playoff team
Sun 10/7 Cleveland - improved team but should dominate
Sun 10/14 at Dallas - potential playoff team

You poke a little fun at Eddie ... and i admit
that i added him only as an afterthought.
But i keep thinking back to mgteich pointing out
that the team signed Eddie Jackson in the full knowledge that he faced a long recovery
... perhaps getting nothing at all from him for an entire year.
But Belioli liked him enough to do it.

As you note, the early schedule is formidable.
I'm sure that BB would not ARRANGE things this way if he had his druthers.
But ... as clouds go ... this isn't such a shabby silver lining.
