I don't know, I see those cuts as pretty painless compared to other years. And I think you've got it about right. I'd maybe want to stash Santonio on the PS, if eligible, which I think he is. Also, I think one of the 3 rookie OL - Hilliard, Oldenburg, Elgin - won't go to the PS. My guess is Hilliard gets tossed.

I like Santonio more than Kareem. You're probably right though.

Agreed, Hilliard was way out of shape earlier. I expect one of the PS positions to go to Baugher.

Please note that I put down 24 names, but a LOT depends on the health of Seymour, D. Thomas, Lua, and Hochstein. Only D. Thomas and Seymour are eligible for the Reserve/PUP. Lua and Hochstein would have to go to the IR.

Re: OK... Its THAT time again... Who are the final 21 cuts....

Yep, Baugher for sure, I think. Kareem DEFINITELY over Santonio from all that I've heard/read.

Re: OK... Its THAT time again... Who are the final 21 cuts....

Lua ABSOLUTELY goes on IR, and I think it's a blessing in a way. I mean, it would be nice for him to have a full year on the P.S. so that stinks, but at least some team like the jets doesn't pick him up and stash on their inactives. Now he has some time to sit in on meetings, hang out with the team and maybe he's something a year or two from now.

That said, it's not like he was some dynamo. He was barely a blip outside the INT and I don't think it's a big loss, either way, except that some of us, myself included, had a soft spot for him b/c he's young and a linebacker.

For all we know Kareem is already on the team. I don't remember hearing about him much today. If he didn't play, that might have been a good sign that he already secured a position. For the most part, the cuts and other moves will happen to only the guys we saw today and the guys who are injured.

Clint Oldenburg (PS)
Mel Mitchell (?)

I say keep Oldenburg and cut Britt. I'd rather lose Britt to the Jets than Oldenburg. Britt just looks like he's playing on cruise control every time I see the guy play. Granted Oldenburg was playing against scrubs, but he still showed his "mean streak" and didn't let up on his blocks until his guy was on the ground eating dirt.

Also, every time I watch Mitchell, he's around the ball knocking someone to the groud. Makes me wonder why he didn't play more tonight with the first and second units. He also makes plays on teams. Tough decision between Mitchell and Andrews.

Gonna be some tough cuts...

Yes, especially at the DLine.

Is Childress eligible for the PS squad?

I thought he used up his PS eligibility?

According to NFL.com, Kareem was inactive tonight with all the other top guys. Probably very good news for him as far as making the team.

No real surprises on this list. The only notable names I can see getting cut are Tory James and maybe Washington/Caldwell, however I see either of them getting traded before they get cut. I also wouldn't be shocked if we trade one of our D-linemen, since we know have a nice amount of good, young D-linemen. It'd be tough losing Hochstein for the year. He's are only legit back-up at center.

I was told he has one more year of eligibility left as long as the Pats keep 53 men on the roster.

I've got to disagree with you here. Billy Yates is a damn good back-up C/G. And Elgin may force BB's hand in terms of how well he played.

Considering neither played tonight I'd assume that Caldwell/Washington are going to both make the team and we carry 6 WRs. Otherwise they'd have been fighting for a spot out there tonight.

Re: OK... Its THAT time again... Who are the final 21 cuts....

remember:if another team signs a player off your PS,they must keep them on their 53 man roster.

Also, look for the Pats to use the money factor on their PS,if necessary.Remember when they paid Billy
Yates $400K,when he was on the PS?

Pierre Woods:8 un.tackles,2 sacks,2FF....WOW!

I disagree. I thought he had made the team outright tonight prior to getting injured. He was solid tonight prior to the injury and showed all preseason that he was working the rust off and progressing steadily. And even with the injury, which looked like a serious knee injury, he popped right back up, hopped off the field on one leg unassisted and showed how tough he really is. You have to feel for the kid and hope the injury's not too severe.

That is probably right, but there is the possibility that they already had an arrangement with someone else and didn't want to injure their trade bait. I guess I'm just one who wants to see Childress see some regular season gameplay. Wishful hoping.

It would be a loss, but I beleive, IMO, that the Pats are high on Elgin in the Hochstein role.

Lua had looked pretty bad against the run at times.. tossed around like a ragdoll
