Hey Asante, cool - you're dumb AND a wuss. Nice bend over, loser. Now get on the field.
Actually he wasn't a free agent per se...more in a no man's land..not signed with the club and yet, unable to play for another team at that point. Not able to be fined if holding out, but tied to the Pats. A bit of both which makes it more difficult.I disagree. He was a free agent - and had no obligation to be in camp. Staying in shape, while minimizing the threat of injuries in pre-season games and still collecting one's full one year guaranteed salary is smart as far as I'm concerned.
No, it's not "team first" but I don't fault Samuel for attempting to minimize his risk of injury. All the posturing I can do without, but overall - if it were me, I wouldn't report until now either.
I fault him now for showing up late, and then trying some B.S. leverage play. It's idiotic - and his behavior all the way back to the Globe article prior to the playoff game has been just that, idiotic. And there's every reason to think he'll be MORE likely to get hurt, given his lack of real football action.
Whatever, he's back, he'll be good, I just think he's a tool. Especially after the "show up to sign and then not sign" fiasco. Just a total lame move.
Who is Chris Patrick?
I honestly don't remember seeing him on the roster.

I don't blame him a bit either. After all, the same supposedly nonexistent leverage got Lance Briggs a million bucks and a promise not to franchise again. It's worth a try.
Great to have him back. I feel mighty good about a secondary lineup of Hobbs, Samuel, Gay, Harrison, Wilson, Sanders, Meriweather. Mighty, mighty good.
that's true up to a point, Joe, Once it was clear that he was coming back before the regular season started and he wasn't going to get what he wanted from the Pats, he had an obligation to back in time to make sure he'd be ready for the first game.
He has not missed 40-50 practices, he also missed all the meeting and film time. Not only that he also missed all the off season mini camps and OTAs. It is highly doubtful that he'll be ready and at top speed for at least 3-4 weeks.
HE may collect that $485,000 for the Jet game, but there is no way he will earn it, by being the elite CB we paid for.
