I hope everyone who reads this thread is sitting down, but...Now, take a deep breath and prepare yourself...Michael Felger has just announced on his radio that he is jumping off the Patriots are a Super Bowl team bandwagon. Yes, I know this is a shocking development.

I know this hurts like the first time you realized Santa Claus wasn't real, but there still is a glimmer of hope. He thinks the Pats are a playoff team. All hope is not lost.

Felger says that they haven't looked impressive in preseason games, Moss and others being out, and his thinking that Asante Samuel will hold true to his hold out and even if he comes back he won't be effective for the first month.

Is this the same Michael Felger who invaded PFW in Progress yesterday and tried to sell that Moss is dogging it with his "hamstring injury?"

Felger is the new generation CHB or Borges.

It's his opinion and he is entitled to it. Is there a reason he is so bitter, or does he just do it to be different or for shock value?

Felger was a complete and total JACK-***** on PFW yesterday. He wears his "please Randy Moss be terrible" desperation on his sleeve. I was genuinely embarrassed for him.

As soon as you mentioned MF, and what appropriate initials they are for this guy, I had a great laugh. I don't pay much attention to MF, as listening to him attempt to discuss football is about the same as listening to Sponge Bob discuss the factors influencing the cause of global warming. With the same voice as well . . .

Sit Down, thats my problem I'm always sitting down. Felger the fool is a poor mans Ron Bogus. Or in otherwords a cheap immatation.

And what part of this is not true, geez some talking head points out some facts. (well I guess mostly oppinions) and some of you act like he just on a vendetta.

There is some room for concern here.

It's preseason. The Pats' starting defense didn't allow a single point last week and held the Titans to like 99 yards of total offense in the first half (most of it coming on two plays in the final drive). And we didn't have either of our starting DEs playing. So playing badly isn't exactly true to begin with. I could care less how our second and third stringers do against other team's second and third stringers.

I will admit that I am a bit concerned about Moss, but if he comes back Monday and shows he has enough of a grasp of the offense to rotate in and out with Stallworth, Gaffney, Welker, and who ever while he learns the rest of the offense, I am ok with it.

I like Felger the writer. Felger the broadcast "journalist" is a moron. I do think he likes to say "controversial" things to generate ratings.

people like felger just want to take the uncommon view to be noticed. He went after dillon for no particular reason when he was here and pissed him off constantly by talking up his age, and he will go after moss by saying his faking the injury etc etc just to rile him up.Lets face it he wants to be popular media critic by being unpopular. And he is not breaking any great news here. Any team can win or lose in the playoffs -Superbowl team is just a prediction just like the other teams are a superbowl teams- doesnt mean they win it all. He isnt offering something which nobody else knows.

good for felger.

maybe he'll get an extra $350 appearance fee and some free craft service to show up on another TV show now.

well done.

His prediction allows him to win either way. If they don't win, he can say "I told you so" and if they win, well I guess they win.

Please change the title of this thread. Big Shocker would be something like "Peyton Manning announces retirement", or "Pats trade Sammy Morris for Ladainian Tomlinson, straight up".

Felger cares about one thing, the ratings.. to base any opinion on two preseason games shows what an actual fool he is..

I'm surprised he has not said that the Colts are doomed because they are 0-2 in the preseason as well. The thing is that preseason says nothing at all about how good a team will perform in the regular season. Last season the Colts were 0-4 in preseason, and if I remember correctly they fared pretty well, didn't they???

And that's MF's schtick, he likes to be controversial in order to gather interest.

Now, it's not so much whether I agree or disagree with him, since there are things to criticize during training camp. As a print journalist, he often fell short on some stories by doing too little research. He's still hurting that the story he broke about Moss signing with the Packers (his home team, BTW) was unfounded and untrue.

Here's the deal: With the preseason still winding down and no team really exhibiting what its tendencies will be in the regular season, to try and make rational judgments about what is seen or perceived in practice and exhibition games is something the media does to garner interest from its readers & viewers. As many are fully aware, much of this is meaningless at this time. So, to have MF now pronounce that he's changing his Super Bowl prediction is funny. This is just another example of the media wanting to become the story by assuming oracle status.

Nice post, I agree.

I wish I could express my thoughts as well as you.

Bingo! His rating must be down so he's just trying to get the pot boiling again.

And everyone's been through it before with Ron... and yet the threads and notoriety keep on coming.

You could kill Felger, but two more would just take his place. Appearently there is a inexhaustible market for trolls in the Boston area.

Felger was just on NEST and one of his 4 Downs was about how NE's passing game hasn't been diverse enough; comprised mostly of passes to Faulk. He is looking for more WR and TE passes.

Felger, you can't be this stupid can you? First off, NE has *clearly* been working on run blocking with the top OL. Second, Watson has been used primarily as a blocker to try and strengthen the weakest part of his game. If you believe, as I do, that Watson is going to be an integral part of the offense, why would you want to show that off in the preseason? The Welker Brady combo was a little off in the first game, but it seems to be solid.

The only real possibility for concern was that Stallworth and Brady were off, and, in fairness, NE was clearly working to get those two connected regardless of the D. Had they really game planned that game, I am sure that NE could have gotten Donte isolated a little more and that Brady would have looked towards another WR when the protection was breaking down. Moss' health could be considered a concern as well.

Anyway, I really hope that Felger is just an attention whore because, otherwise, he knows nothing about football.
