OT: Cowboy's trying to trade Linebackers...for help at DB

From someone in the DFW area, I wouldn't put too much weight into the Ft. Worth Star Telegram. They're not the National Enquirer or anything, but they tend to sensationalize their stories more times than not.

It's the Dallas Morning News that does an outstanding job in objectivity.

With that being said-Carpenter won't be going anywhere. Bradie James is our starter at ILB, but Carpenter will be used alot nonetheless. And even though it was with the second unit, Kevin Burnett finally showed his potential in the second half of that Broncos game. I think he'll be a keeper(for a bit while).

the LB's weight isnt everything, look at Vilma, from everything Ive heard and read the patriots would of jumped all over the chance drafting him if he was available, hes not even that big...
I think I deleted the Jets 1st preseason game already, I could have pulled the booth transcript discussing Vilma's struggles in the 3-4 and how it related to his size. The past three years that I've been trying to follow the draft I keep reading how BB loves some of these stud, undersized, sideline-to-sideline LBs, yet somehow he never seems to take a LB until much later in the draft, and most of them larger and slower with less pedigree then the Sims and Vilmas and Beasons.

Can we trade Ray Mickens for Ware?

If Asante were in camp, I'd consider it. Actually I'd STILL consider it even before he comes back - but only if the Cowboys go insane and give us Carpenter for Tory James.

Has anyone considered the possiblity of a three way trade - a Patriots WR for a Dallas LB for another team's CB?

Even if the rumors from Dallas are true, realistically, who has a cornerback to spare? The kind of money thrown at underwhelming talents like Jason David this offseason shows how thin that position is around the league.

Realistically I'd only expect them to move Burnett, if any of them. All of the ILBs we have each have a weakness that is another one of these players strengths, so I think while it may appear that there is a logjam for playing time by the numbers, by talent level I don't really think there is. Not to mention there was a ton of complaining by these LBs about the Fairbanks-Bullough 3-4 defense that Parcells and Belichick run now that the team is running the Phillips 3-4. All have lost significant amounts of weight in the offseason to the point where I don't know that they'd be a fit in the Pats defense anymore.
