Rodney/Seymour on WEEI

Re: Rodney on WEEI

Sounds like Richard Seymore is there too.

Re: Rodney on WEEI

Richard says he's not sure when he'll be back on the the field. He's busy rehabbing from his off season surgery. Wants to on field when he can be dominant, "not just out there".

Man,

That sort of implies it may be later rather then sooner.

Thank God his backup, Green, can be dominant at times as well (though not nearly as dominant against the run as Seymour).

Richard Seymour doesn't want to see any more of this. ;)

Re: Rodney / Seymore on WEEI

Rodney:
-He's very intense. They asked him about the coaches having to hold him out of some plays on practice because he's too intense. He said he just is one speed all the time. "practice how you play"

-Hitting Vince Young wasn't a big deal...it was good to get him on the ground though because TB had been on the ground earlier. (in fact it was mentioned in another thread that he said this when he saw TB on the ground..."our qb is on the ground, let's go put theirs there")

-He doesn't care what people think or say about him. Kraft writes the check, BB and his teammates like him and that's all that matters

-He has never missed camp. He needs it to help him get the rust off and get back in game shape. He couldn't just come in and be ready to go for the season, he needs camp

-Teams only really show about 30% of their playbook...preseason is about seeing guys and how they perform, you can't gameplan for them

-Had this quote "Rosie is a cheap brother" ...talked about how cheap Colvin is and that he even has his kids recycle cans for money to teach them the value of it

-Disappointed to see Artrell go. He's a great guy and friend who worked hard and did a great job when Rodney was down. Always prepared and Rodney could go to him if he didn't understand something and Artrell was so prepared (as well as James Sanders) that he could help him out

-Typical game stuff: we did some things good, we can get better, etc...

-Admires and watches film on other safety's to help him get better: Troy Polamalu he thinks is the best safety in the league. Also watches ed reed and Adrian Wilson.

Richard Seymour:

-Lot's of work outs, trying to get healthy, not 100% yet, but when he's there he'll be back. I took away from this the feeling that he's getting close and should be ready to go in week 1

-Keep your perspective right and you'll always be fine

-Understands it's a business, but could see Artrell coming back down the road if things happen

-When he can't practice on the field, he works harder in the film and class room so he can be ready when his body is 100%

-Watches film and admires Strahan. He is a complete player who the coaches want out there every play

*Both guys are interested in doing a rodney/seymour show on both radio and tv

*They treat every preseason game like a regular game. One moment could end your season/career so they prepare the same way for both

*You can really tell that these guys are good friends and get along so well

Given the Patriots stance on letting injured players speak to the media, the fact that he showed up for the interview probably makes it more likely sooner than later.

Hawkins, Miller, Harrison, Seymour . . .

2000s: Patriots dominate the NFL
2010s: Patriots dominate the NFL and the airwaves? Sounds good to me. :)

Re: Rodney on WEEI

Sorry, fixed. :)

Thanks so much for the details (and for fixing the title).

I was very interested to hear Rodney's respect for Artrell. It will REALLY hurt to see him in a Jets shirt!

It's always great to hear Rodney on the radio. He looks like he did 3 years ago before these freak injuries. We need him to stay healthy all year.

I just have a feeling that Big Sey will be ready for the season opener.

Someday after he hangs up the cleats, Rodney will be involved with sports radio or TV on some level.. he brings a whole new level of honesty and accountability to the game.. love to hear him, he must be a bb in the lockerroom though.

That sounds about right to me.

What if Seymour had a healthy season? That'd be weird.
