Guess we will see Kool Aid this weekend against the Panthers. He is practicing without his red jersey.

Does any one realize that of all the teams we are the only one or two which did not have a rookie RB even in the 3rd string? Hill came in once or twice but heath got a lot of carriers.

Despite OL problems I actually saw gaps being opened for RB's which were not there last year.

WEEI, they reported Ty and Moss are not their so probabaly not playing this week either.

Re: kool aid Not in red .

I don't think he'll play this weekend...he's cleared but they will still play it safe. Especially against a hard hitting Panthers team.

Re: kool aid Not in red .

It's on the Globe. Eric Alexander also shed his red jersey. Unfortunately, Gaff and Hoch are missing from today's practice. They were both dinged up during the Titans game.

Re: kool aid Not in red .

Good news on Maroney. I've been laughing off the Moss concerns but with less than 3 weeks until we play The Jest, I'm getting a little concerned. The good news is he and Brady were doing well do they should get back in synch quickly - if Brady and Stallworth use the next 3 weeks well we could be in fairly good shape for the regular season.

I'm a little nervous, though, @ Jets and home to SD we need a good start - NO WORSE than 1-1 or we're in a hole.

Muscle pulls are a tough injury if you come back to soon you just keep tweaking it, I'm struggling through one now. I'm sure they are being over cautious, we need catches in September not now, he'll start practicing next week aiming for the Jets.

Re: kool aid Not in red .

I have a feeling that Moss and Gaff have minor injuries and Belly has no reason to play them at this point in the preseason. HE knows what Moss can do, and Gaff has possibly been the most consistent receiver on the team. Belly has to give the other guys a chance to make the team, so this will probably be a week that we see more Caldwell and Kelly Washington playing against the Panthers, along with Donte and Welker.

I still think that it would be better if we could get Moss in at least one pre-season game though. I mean, theres no substitution for actual games and it'll be tought for Moss' first game as a Patriot be in the season opener after missing most of training camp and not playing in the pre-season.

To me Stallworth is a much better Bethel Johnson , he runs fast, mostly deep routes, ok hands but needs to operate in space. He should be used mostly to stretch defenses, it shouldn't take too long to get on the same page with Brady.

Moss will be running more than just fly patterns and is a more important cog in the offense, the sooner he gets back the better.

Good news about Maroney. Bummer that Gaffney got a little dinged.

I'd love our full 'starting' offense to see some reps as a complete unit prior to Week 1 of the regular season. The final pre-season game is traditionally one that the backups take a majority of reps in, so this third game would be the one, but it looks like injuries are going to hold that back.

I was really hoping that the offense would have time to gel more quickly than last year's squad, but it looks like that's not in the cards. They'll have to keep working on that cohesion as they head into the regular season.

I just hope the OL can step up, or we may be looking at Matt Cassel at some point. Yikes.

Not for nothing, with exception of Asante Samuel, I hope some of these guys come back soon.

Here’s the list of absences, aside from the five PUP-listed guys.
http://news.bostonherald.com/blogs/patriots/
 WR Jabar Gaffney
 CB Asante Samuel
 S Rashad Baker
 DB Larry Anam
 C/G Russ Hochstein
WR Randy Moss
TE Kyle Brady
DE Ty Warren
DL Mike Wright

PUP
DL Richard Seymour
TE David Thomas
CB Eddie Jackson
WR Chad Jackson
WR Troy Brown

I'm happy that Maroney is back though.
Hey at least we know that they will be back at some point.:)

Great news that he can at least start taking small hits.

Kind of knee jerk but welcome to the internet age.... after the first couple pre-season games Maroney could be the difference between a good team and a very good to exceptional team.

Yeah, muscle pulls are a problem. It usually if not always refers to muscle fibers tearing. And most of the time, especially with hamstrings, the tear is at the tendon area. Rest is the only thing that works combined with massage or controlled stretching - ie. something that will relieve the tension pull at the tear. If you exercise and keep "feeling the pull or tear", that means it is being aggravated or possibly worsened. Inactivity shortens the muscle and can also increase tension on the tear. Basically a bad situation. Ive had a hamstring injury for about a year mainly because as a yoga teacher its hard for me to stay out of the problem area.

I was in FL over the weekend and was forced to watch Jets vs. Vikings on Friday night as Pats game was not on. It's only the 2nd preseason game, but for what it's worth, Pennington looked terrible vs. the Vikings. He threw two lame ducks (one under serious pressure) right to the Vikes which were returned for TDs. He got chewed out several times by Mangini on the sidelines (once for the INTs; once for taking a timeout in the 1st quarter). Their o-line is not very good without Kendall, who they are only using on the 2nd team as a center b/c of his contract dispute. Kendall also gave up a TD when he snapped the ball over the QB's head and it was run into the end zone. Hopefully they are still this sloppy in three weeks!

Pete Kendall should be ashamed of himself!
He is a professional
who signed a new contract just a year ago March.

Seems strange to sympathize with Jets fans
over this prima donna.
