I've been reading a lot about relativity and closed time-like curves in the last few days, so lo and behold, I'm watching a bit of the preseason game yesterday when I see the ball get knocked out of Brady's hands and declared an incomplete pass. Fischer challenges and on review it's ruled a fumble, recovered by Tennessee. Then I look away for 10 seconds to take a phone call, look up, and the Pats are driving with the ball? What the hell happened? I don't even think I looked away long enough for an intervening play, nevermind a change of posession. Did I end up in a parallel universe or something?

It was a fumble recovered by the Patriots.

You mean on the next play, or the one that was challenged was actually recovered by the Pats?

The latter.

I missed it too, another great broadcast by Channel 5.

Re: What happened? I looked away and then reality changed.

You got sucked into the parallel universe of Randy "cross talk" and preseason television production

Re: What happened? I looked away and then reality changed.

I don't get Randy Cross. On Sirius, he's actually pretty good. Once the TV camera goes on, he turns into a complete dolt.

Re: What happened? I looked away and then reality changed.

Gil and Gino kept saying there was no way that was a fumble.

Did you guys see it?

Did it look like a fumble?

It looked like a fumble to me - the "empty hand" rule. However, the Patriots clearly recovered the ball.

There's the sign post up ahead.
You're next stop....

Your chair must be placed over a tear in the space/time contineum, you slipped through a worm hole and popped out 2-3 minutes ahead of when you picked up the phone.

Don't answer the phone anymore you never know where you'll end up. ;)

First, a quantum fluctuation.
Then, the collapse of the wave function ... resulting in
decoherence of the superposition.

Y'unnerstan now?

Or ... in classical terms ... as others have reported,
a close-call probable fumble
recovered by some unknown Patriot hero.

That's the classical interpretation.

Me, I'm partial to the Hugh Everett 'Many Worlds' interpretation of quantum phenomena where those of us now reading this landed in the multiverse segment where the ball was a fumble recovered by the Patriots.

Ya know ya can't get stuff like this on a Jets or Phins board.

Don't you get it? He picked up the TELEPHONE! Anyone familiar with "The Matrix" knows that that means. No wonder he became disoriented for a milisecond, there was an apparent glitch in the Matrix.

Fellers,

I've gotta ask..... "what kind of an idiot leaves his phone on while the game is being played?"

Every year, as soon as the schedule is posted, I print out copies of it and give them to my wife, kids, neighbors, relatives, etc. They know that, from 1 hour before to 1 hour afterwards, I am NOT to be disturbed unless either the house is on fire, someone has stopped breathing, someone is bleeding to death, or Islamofacist terrorists are trying to blow up the house. Even then, they'd better have called 911 first before they bother me.....

Heh... they are slowly learning :rocker:

Respects,

I missed it too because of the terrible broadcast. They said it was a fumble which I assumed meant it would be the Titans ball, yet I see Brady going up under center. The analysts said nothing about it. But I still don't understand why Fischer would challenge it if even if it was ruled a fumble it would still be the Patriots ball.

Field position. The Pats lost about 4 yards on the play after recovering the fumble. It was ruled an incomplete pass before the challenge.

Don't even mention it. I was away all week on a sailing trip and finally arived at my friends on the Cape Friday night to watch the game. Called home and told my wife NOT to call back during the game and I'm still paying for it.

I am begging the ragheads not to attack during the game.
