I think that Tory James could be on the bubble. He was in coverage and was beat on the TD to Roydell Williams from Kerry Collins. He was also the CB on the run by DonTrell Moore. Moore ran right past him and James just kind of OLE'ed.

I would not base it on one game. I expect to see him games 3 and 4 and if he's getting burned consistently then yes.

I'm also looking at the fact that he is down the depth chart a bit.. probably the 4th or 5th CB without Samuel there.

The second team defense was brutal .
No one looked good.

SOme of the second team would actually be third team if Seymour, Warren and Asante were there.

I HAVE HAD Tory James on my bubble.
Last night demoted him to "2bCut".

He's basically contending against Wesley and Hawkins
... and it seems he loses out to both.
(In passing, only one of those fellas will make it.)

I think that was the 3rd team. Maybe half the guys out there on D in the second half will even make the 53-man roster:

Meriweather
one or two from the DL (Smith maybe?)
one or two OLBs (Woods, maybe Rogers, but more likely PS)

Thats 5. I could be miscounting, but I don't remember anyone else out there even as a backup.

Wesley was active on STs last night. This is one way to get into the hearts and minds of the coaching staff. His size and energy give him an advantage, and unless James makes people take notice in the next two games, you could be right regarding his fate.

He looked brutal on that TD run to his side - he was essentially a pylon. Having said that, his experience is what he has going for him right now to make this team.

Is the team ready to have Meriweather at nickel? with Richardson as the #4 corner? Perhaps, but I doubt it.

He did have good coverage on one play in the EZ. Other than that, he didn't look so hot.

Meriweather might be a better nickel than James. I certainly wouldn't be surprised.
