On a night where the Patriots OL played poorly to a degree they are not likely to repeat very often...

On a night where both teams played in the slop...

On a night where the offense played without their two best playmakers on offense (Randy Moss and Laurence Maroney)...

On a night where Logan Mankins and Stephen Gostkowski messed up in ways not likely to be repeated...

The Patriots offense scored 17 points on a pretty solid defense and came out with no significant injuries, and gave Belichick plenty to kick their asses over with two weeks left before the season starts.

I'm happy with that.

Re: The Bright Side...

Oh, and the #1 D shutout the Titans, too.

I've changed the title to Pats/Titans postgame notes. Post them in here...if you don't agree with Patsox23, sound off!

Re: Pats/Titans postgame notes

My thread isn't really about postgame, but it can be. It was intended to mainly just comment on how productive the #1 offense was, even with so many things going "against" them.

The youngsters on 2nd team defense - several #3s, since some of the back-ups were in the starting lineup tonight - were nothing short of pathetically HORRENDOUS. Unacceptably poor, *****-ish, shoved around, pathetic. No need for panic since so many will be gone - and since playing this kind of TEAM D leads to breakdowns when you have even ONE weak link - but it's worth noting that they completely SUCKED.

Green and Smith on the DL, not even the #1 D. LBs looked good. Coverage looked good (and Samuel will be back). The D looked incredible. Plus, the intensity of the game, the stand, the neck-snapping payback sack by my favorite player.

What we're seeing is the unusual situation of team chemistry, at least on D, forming in the pre-season. BB says you can't tell the chemistry of the team until mid-season, but this may be an exception, with this tough, tough veteran core. Warren and Seymour must be watching and wishing they were in there knocking heads.

Great stuff today, all the power and thrill of a regular season game in the first half.

Re: Pats/Titans postgame notes

I know that it's the preseason, and we're playing the Titans who are lacking at the skill positions, and it is very wet out there, but this could be a special Defense--one to remember. Add in Seymour, Warren, Samuel, and Wright...hoochie mama.

Re: Pats/Titans postgame notes

It seems like Le Kevin Smith could be making the 53 man roster since he started. I don't want to jump the gun, but he seems to be in favor with the coaches if he's starting after Seymour, Warren, and Wright.

Re: Pats/Titans postgame notes

Stories of the game, as i see it, are
the excellence of the real D
... and the porosity of the O-line, from starters down to see-yas.
Not good at all.
Should NEVER happen.

Re: Pats/Titans postgame notes

Is Kareem Brown still on the roster?

Re: Pats/Titans postgame notes

Went to the game and the defense rocked! Well I left at the start of the fourth quarter but the second team defense sucked!

But as for the first team Geno was very good tonight. I hope the Geno from 2-3 years ago returns. Randall Gay did a nice job yet again.

Seau makes the defense so much better especially against the run.

RODNEY HARRISON IS BACK! Rodney was pissed off and energized. It was so cool when he he just knocked Vince Young on his ass. The crowd loved it.

If anyone is able to post a replay of that it would be greatly appreciated by those of us unable to see it!

Re: Pats/Titans postgame notes

As confident as most of us Pats fans have been this offseason, these past two games go to show you that if we commit costly penalties and turnovers, have poor offensive line play and have mental breakdowns, we aren't going to do much this year.

I always thought this was going to be one of our better offensive seasons, but I fear we may be plagued by turnovers like no other season. Our defense looks like it might be the best part of our team, I did not see the game, just curious how AD looked today?

Also, seems like Ghost has been up and down all camp and he blew an easy one today, hope he doesn't hit the soph slump. Do kickers go through that?

It'll probably be on the game highlights tomorrow. He just rammed VY in the shoulder and Young fell back on his ass. It was totally the best Rodney moment since 2004.

And Thomas has looked great. I can't say what he did specifically since I wasn't paying much attention to him but everyone on the first team defense was great tonight.

I blame it on the rain. :)

Funny thing is the O line was wildly inconsistent all last year.....

Guess I will have to see the O-Line play well before I draw any conclusions about them.

Yes, I feel like I keep reading great things about LeKeeeeeeevin.

This might be my favorite observation of the night. Geno reverting to his old ways would be an embarrassment of riches for this D.
