I've always wondered why BB didn't like this guy...especially over a guy like Evans...Must not have fit the mold...GO PATS!!!!

I liked him a lot, and thought he'd make a great backup and future replacement for Faulk, but Evans can do things (blocking as a FB) that Cobbs can't. I don't think his preseason fumbling helped.

Too small. BB likes bigger backs IMO and a giuy like Faulk.

An odd post. As far as I know, Cobbs hasn't shown any signs of being the next Marshall Faulk, or even Kevin Faulk, so I don't understand the lamenting. He is what he is, a training camp RB. He's a longshot to make the Dolphins roster.

Probably the same reason Pittsburgh and Miami didn't like him.

IMO hes closer to bein Peter Faulk...;-)

We all know the possible reasons. He didn't have the mental capacity or worth ethic or the physical skills.

I do remember reading a clipping in the Herald last year of him saying that BB didn't give him a fair shake in NE and that all the players hated BB.

Maybe he didn't know how to spell T-E-A-M

probaly the same reason pittsburgh and miami didbnt like him

He actually refused to sign with Pittsburgh after they claimed him. IIRC, he didn't think he would be given much chance to win a job.

Cobbs does do well in the preseason which is probably why he's still playing right now. Last year he wasn't going to beat out Dillon, Maroney, Faulk and wasn't as versatile as Evans so he was traded to Pitt. He has a good shot to make the Dolphins roster as their entire offense is in flux right now.

<waits for Aqua's response...>

Oh I doubt that. The Dolphins will keep Ronnie Brown, Jesse Chatman, and Lorenzo Booker. They'll likely keep Schlesinger for his blocking. If they keep another RB, there's a good-sized group competing.

Cobbs is essentially a homeless man's Lorenzo Booker, and they'd better have Ted Ginn returning kicks, so I can't see what dimension Cobbs would provide.

Barring injuries, his role is to save the other RBs from taking a pounding in the preseason, and maybe catch on to the practice squad.

Don't mistake Patrick Cobbs playing well in pre-season with being really good at football. He is worse than Heath Evans and Heath Evans is merely a mildly versatile JAG with an awesome attitude.

It had nothing to do about BB "not liking" Cobbs.

Exactly. 1 is a FB...other is a small HB.

We couldn't keep so many people...Maroney-Dillon-Faulk. No room and we really didn't need him by the looks of it. Instead of trying to sneak him onto Practice Squad. We moved him since we knew someone would take him.

Cobbs is a CLASSIC fool-you pre-season player. Nice little guy, makes some moves, has a big game, but no one seriously thinks he can be an impact player in real games.

Quinton Smith.
