Adam on his Sirius radio show today says that Cincinnati has come up to the level of Indianapolis and may have even surpassed Indy as an AFC power.

I do know that Cincy's D is a weak point but Indy has also lost several key guys so I kind of like the comparison and it may be true that the Bengals may be better or at least equal to Indy this year,I do think Cincy's offense is a bit better now than Indy's as Harrison is not getting any younger and they have an unproven rookie in the mix and a RB Addai who had a great rookie season but cannot be compared to a Rudi Johnson and Gonzalez definately cannot be compared to a Houshmenzada right now so Cincy has the edge and also Cincy's O-Line should have the edge since Glenn is gone in Indy,I alos think we will see a GREAT season from palmer who is just busting to have a breakout season.

Of course I am not sure what he is talking about in regards to the entire AFC picture but I think he is saying if you put NE on top in the AFC and go down the list,Cincy would rank higher than Indy this year.

A bold but very possible scenerio.

Cincy sat their 1st string OTs for the Detroit game and looked powerful using the reserves. If they can sit on the bad eggs on the team and focus on football they'll be very tough.

No fair including the ones in jail.

Did they win the all-important first exhibition game trophy?

just my 2 cents but its said every year about cincy being as explosive as indy like when indy lost edge james , like when indy's run D was bad and how cincy was going to run all over them.
Kinda like the same thing when everyone used to say this yr indy will surpass the pats .So until it happens i would still back indy- they have a lot experience in the system and manning clearly masters the offense. cincy seem to falter to deceive every yr -just flashier players makes people like schein take notice.

True,But I really think if Palmer gets a complete T-E-A-M around him and a group of guys that has not had a prior criminal record which continues then we should see the next great Quarterback joining Brady and Manning within the next 3 years,Hes not there yet because of all the havoc in Cincy but no reason to think it can't happen by 2010

A totally absurd proclamation.

Indy is still one of the AFC's elite. Even with all the losses on defense. Even with Tarik Glenn retired. They still have the league's elite passing offense. They still have one of the best pairs of pass rushing ends. They still have a secondary perfectly suited for their defensive scheme.

The Bengals have 5 great offensive players, and virutally nothing else.

Totally agree with you.

Watch out because the Dolphins are now 2-0 in preseason, predicting this kind of stuff in the preseason is nice.. but in reality talk about how great they are about 12 games into the season.

Gonzalez definately cannot be compared to a Houshmenzada right now

I think everyone would agree with that.

Then again, since everyone would also agree that TJ doesn't compare to Reggie Wayne that there is no point to the first comparion. Gonzalez would be compared to Chris Henry - also a no brainer in the Colts favor.

Every preseason this board is filled with reports of the Colts imminent demise. I don't see it. They are still the class of their division and one of the 3 best teams in football.

ditto...I agree

Indy with a ****ty defense wins many games and in my eyes is the team to beat. As Willie said, you can't get the heavyweight title until you knock out the champ...and they the champ...

:)

...let's see what we can do...

Adam Schein is a complete buffoon

He doesn't know his a** from his elbow.
His "proclamations" have been so consistently far off the mark over the years.
His judgment is terrrible and he is way off the mark here.

Cincy lacks the big game experience to pass any of the top AFC powers. They have to win a playoff game before anyone can say they have "arrived".

i think a lot of these writers show their likeness for team depending how friendly they are with the media or with the writer in particular .So maybe has had a good time covering the bengals this year so he is returning the favor but articles like these. No other basis of his proclamation in week 2 of the pre season.

Quite agree.

Think this is the first time I am seeing this many postings in a single thread giving respect to the Colts.

Well, both are on the PUP, so they really didn't have a choice. ;)

Agreed. The Colts are still the top 3 and until proven otherwise, the Bengals are not.

Re: Adam Schein is a complete buffoon

Is this guy a fan of the Bengals? He seems to have that inherent over-optimism that many fans possess.

This guy is a complete ******* moron.
I'm not even going to read the article and waste my time.
That is the dumbest title i've read on here in a while.

If there ever was a time to be "that guy" and make a weak prediction like this, it was 2-3 years ago.

What a complete moron.

What is this constant infatuation with the Bengals year after freakin year! Every year almost all the so called experts start swinging from Palmer's johnson, and every year they turn in sub par performances! Not to mention they have not even won one single playoff game, but yet they are better then a team that won it all last year?

Colts
Pats
Chargers

These are the elite teams, the Bengals can not hold a candle to any of them! This reminds me of how every year on the NFC side the panthers always seem to be the big pick and cant even get out of their own way once the real games start!
