PATS TIE UP WARREN

The Patriots have signed defensive end Ty Warren to a five-year, $36 million extension, which includes $17.5 million in guaranteed money, according to Adam Schefter of NFL Network.

Warren had two years remaining on his rookie deal, which was signed after the Pats made him a first-round pick in 2003. He was due to earn $1.075 million in base salary this year and $1.45 million in base salary in 2008.

Warren is part of a stellar three-man line, composed exclusively of first-round draft picks. Defensive tackle Vince Wilfork, a first-rounder in 2004, is signed through 2009. Defensive end Richard Seymour, a first-rounder in 2001, also is under contract through 2009.

Re: PFT: Pats sign Ty Warren to 5-year extension

I don't normally say anything in these threads because there really isn't anything to say that hasn't already been said by the 30 people before me.

But signing Warren certainly deserves a YES!

Oh. And a few of these: :singing: :rocker: :rocker: :D

This is the kind of thing that makes me want to hit REFRESH all day long just in case.

I'll co-sign this.

Re: PFT: Pats sign Warren to 5-year extension

So that's 3 more years that we've got the 3 of them signed (and Warren longer). Fantastic. I guess I was a little hasty on Vince :)

Just a bit more explanatory...

Dear Asante,

F off. Get into camp.

But, I thought we were just loading up for one last go at a championship!?!

 :D

Re: PFT: Pats sign Warren to 5-year extension

One more example of the Patriots NOT being cheap, but rather WISE with who they give big money to, who earns it, and where well-placed value goes. The NFL, once again, gets it wrong.

We win, you lose, shut up.

What an amazing move and it clearly signifies one thing and one thing only.
This is BB's last year gents no doubt about it.
Clearly were only looking at this year I mean signing Warren for 5 years is just a a ploy by BB.
I can't stop smiling god is it good to be a Patriot fan another brilliant move by our front office.

As someone who loves this deal - this being my 4th post in the thread - may I be the first one to point out the possibly controversial point that not only did they give him big money but did so despite having TWO years left on the rookie deal. Does make that $$$ even more...remarkable, to put it politely.

Bottom line, though - they clearly love Ty and what he's developed into, and they inadvertantly show the NFL (and, perhaps more importantly, the team) that they are willing to throw around major bank if you earn it and negotiate quietly.

YEP! Someone is doing the "let's keep this D Line together... best in the league, nobody's starving... we'll give it to you early if you don't get greedy" speech!

"But wait, isn't he worth as much as Freeney?"

ahem.

WOOOOO HOOOOO!
