I have the #6 pick in a 12 team draft.

I know for a fact that the following players will be drafted

LT
Steve Jackson
P Manning

and I believe two of the following will be selected

F Gore
S Alexander
LJ

Who do you think I should get. We get .5 per reception.

I was looking at addai or Gore (if available). I don't really like Alexander or LJ.

Any suggestions?

At 0.5pts/catch, I'd look seriously at Brian Westbrook and not-dismissively at Reggie Bush. Westbrook's value soars in PPT leagues. Westbrook's main concern is his injury history (and permanently messed up knee). Bush came on strong late last year and I wouldn't be shocked if that was a preview of better things from him this year. Another thing going for Bush is that McAlister looked like poop in the Saints' first preseason game, although I don't know how much one can take from a (portion of a) lone preseason game.

I assume the rest of your scoring is standard (i.e. 1pt/10yds rush/rec)?

Regards,
Chris

I'd go with Addai if he's there. I have him ranked just below LT and Steven Jackson, possibly above Larry Johnson.

Westbrook always puts up great #'s because of his catches and total yds but he also usually misses 5 games a year.

Update

Thanks for the inputs....
but I now have the #5 pick!!! (The #1 guy is going to Iraq, so he can't play - we all moved up and gave the new guy the #12 pick)

So it's looking like this -- LT, S Jackson, Manning, LJ and then me!!! LJ is not a lock, but if not him I would be surpised if it wasn't Alexander instead.

I am seriously looking at Addai. He is the only back worth a crap on Indy, and he doesn't come with injury problems. He should also catch a lot of passes.

Westbrook would be a good pick up, but with his injuries I think that may be too high. R. Bush would be nice, and he'll probably be gone in the first, but I think Addai has more upside.

The scoring is 1 pt = 10 yds
.5 = reception
6 = TD
bonus pts at 100, 150, 200 yds recieving or rushing

I'm looking at Addai or Gore but Gore always worries me with injuries, and I know they have more backs now.

I'm thinking:

Addai
Gore
LJ/Alexander
Westbrook
W. Parker
R. Bush
R Johnson

How would you guys rank these guys??

Rudi would be great, but he does nothing in the passing game. He still should have a great year though, and plays a bunch of chumps during fantasy playoffs.

Thank you for all your responses!!!

Addai
LJ
Alexander
R Johnson
Gore
Westbrook
Bush

I won't even list Parker b/c I think his offense is going to suck again and he is a second tier RB.

if available in round 2, go after travis henry...hard. imo

westbrook is a workhorse.
reggie bush could also have a breakout year.

Joseph Addai, he had 1,000 yards rushing and 30+ catches as a non-starter. Now, he will get all the reps, so just think of Edge in his prime.

Well I pick #7 so I can relate :)

My top 7 is :

Tomlinson
Jackson
Alexander
Johnson
Gore
Parker
Addai

The thing that scares me about Addai is I expect the Colts to give up more points and have to throw more - and with 3 legit WR now they can do just that. I like Addai but the supposed bump he's going to get will be smaller than others think IMO.

This is my team (picking 5th in a 12 team league)

.5 ppr
1pt -- 10yds rush/rec
1pt -- 25 yds passing
6pts --TD pass/rec/rush
.5pt -- completion
-.5pt -- incompletion
-2pt -- interception

Lineup

1 QB
2 RB
2 WR
1 RB/WR
1 TE
1 K
1 Def

Gore
Bulger
Jones-Drew
Holt
TJ
Deuce
Pats D
M Clayton (ravens)
L. Betts
D. Henderson
F Taylor
M Pollard
A. Green
JP Losman
Nugent

I hate my TE situation, but there was never any good ones. I took Bulger too soon, because I overreacted when there was a run on them. My WR are ok, but nothing to write home about (after the first two) and of course I'm dead if Bulger goes down.

What do you guys think??? There are still some WR out there with some upside, but I don't know who to drop. There are NO TE, (maybe that guy in Denver that is hurt) but that is it.

a good WR to get if he is out there is Berrian from the Bears

It's funny you say that. I dumped Devery and picked up Berrian. It's 6 of one, 1/2 dozen of the other!!!

Pick up Greg Olsen if you need a TE.
Rookie tight ends are rarely drafted and he has a chance to be good in the Bears O.
Gore will be a stud for you.
The rest of your team should be solid.

Olsen was drafted in the 12th round!!! I had my eye on him and didn't think he would get drafted before the last two rounds. I ALWAYS wait too long to get a TE!!!!

I was going to pick up Olsen in our last round as a backup TE. He sat until the last round and then one of my leaguemates snatched him up two picks before me. I don't think I've ever been stunned so late in a draft like I was then.

gore no question, i traded up to get him at number four (i was originally picking sixth, and knew i had to leapfrog the guy picking fourth)
addai after him
do not pick rudi johnson with any ppr, even just half
he is solid, but extremely unspectacular
