Patriots comments during Charger/Sea game

If anyone was watching this game, did you notice how much harping on last year's NE/SD game was done when they went to Andrea Kramer. She interviewed L.T., and a couple of her questions were about that game, the postgame fiasco and feelings toward BB. Then, Micheals and Madden talked about how agonizing it was that SD threw that game away. Then, they pondered whether SD learned the importance of experience and poise or if the loss would weigh on them all season.

I know it was an upset, and certainly SD could have had the game in hand. However, NE did have some part in winning that. Brady DID have to ACTUALLY throw the pass to Caldwell late in the 4th. Samuel and Hobbs DID have to PHYSICALLY break up late game passes. And Troy Brown DID STRIP McCree rather that McCree just dropping the ball.

Outside of that, it was a bad loss, but the "mediots" need to get over it and move on.

Agreed..........The Chargers simply didn't know what it takes to win.

The Patriots played, for the most part, like crap in that game. They made the plays they had to make, and they barely beat a tough SD team, who is now arguably worse than they were then. They talked crap all week, celebrated on the field, and then WHINED when it was the Patriots celebrating at the end. F them.

Well, they can talk all they want about it, but I can't help but remember that feeling of how overpowering the Chargers seemed over the Pats, and how at any moment they could pull the game right open... That feeling changed towards the end of the 3rd quarter when the game was still so close and my feeling changed to, there keeping the game to close and the Pats will win it...

I know several Chargers fans and all of them thought they were the better team and should have won the game. They blame Marty for the loss. They don't give the Pats the respect they are due.

I sure do hope we are ready for week two. Our last two regular season games against the Chargers where ugly for us. I think if we come out flat they will try to pound us and run up the score. I know that is what my Chargers friends are looking for.

I had the same feeling watching that game. The pats looked old and slow,completly over matched. But I don't see fthem as being as affective this year with a new coaching staff headed by Norv Turner. Has he ever really gotten a team to play consistantly?

In Washington-he would get off to BLAZING starts, then they would collapse at the end. And his teams consistently pile alot of injuries, for some reason.

And you never know when he would ill-physically prepare his teams. On the opening game in '99 against the Cowboys, they had a 21 pt lead with 7 minutes left in the GAME-only to blow it and lose it in OT(from a Troy to Rocket bomb).

I remember that game. Raghib Ismail caught it over the shoulder way down the field as he was ALL alone. It just stands out in my head for some reason, Cowboys were in the dark Blue uni's.

What?!? This is the first SD game, the first nationally televised SD game, since they lost to the Pats. Why wouldn't they talk about it? Why shouldn't they talk about it? Just because you don't want them to do so? I didn't see it, but if I had I would have thought less of NBC if they hadn't brought it up. You think the SD fans are over it? Would Pats fans be over it? No.

Glad to see that the Chargers are focusing on a single entity, while NE is looking at a big picture.. to prepare for one opponent, and focusing on them too much is not a good way of preparing for the NFL season.

The point is, that I felt it bordered on unnecessary harping on the loss. I also think that the majority of us, including the mediots, have moved on more from the Indi. loss than we/they have from the S.D. loss to NE. It's just the fact that the media loves the thought of a grudge match with bad blood. I understand what it is, it's just unnecessary.

A buddy of mine and a huge Pats fan lives out in San Diego. The SD fans feel that they were the better team and basicaly handed the game to the Patriots. He knows several Charger fans who are making the trip to Foxboro for the Pats/Charger game.

I guess they don't give Patriot playoff experience credit for that Patriot victory. Maybe they didn't see the perfect 49 yard pass from Brady to Caldwell down the sideline (on 4th and long) that set up the winning (and clutch) FG kick.

You think that was bad.....just wait until week 2's coverage starts....guaranteed that will be 90 percent of the weeks coverage

well a lot of people say the pats blew the game against the colts .so i guess the same is being said about the chargers. Nothing different.

IMO both games both competing team did something to win or lose the game.

Stuff like "The Patriots have no business setting foot on the same field as the Chargers," that it wouldn't even be close, that it's "our year," just all week, relentless - and relentless coming from IGNORANT casual fans who all of a sudden get pumped when their team rises to the top. Amazing.

I think the way they lost that game was F-ing justified and hysterical.

I have no problem saying that the Patriots had no business winning that game.

I feel the same way about the football game the next week. The Patriots, liked the Chargers, managed to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory. And really, part of it was how spent we were after that improbable win over San Diego.

I understand from the media's perspective that SD's failure to put the cagy, playoff savvy Pats away is a compelling storyline. It is a storyline nonetheless that the network needs to give it's due attention to.

IMO SD is the more talented team. But since when did being a more talented team matter?

Look. SD lost for 3 reasons.

#1 SD coaches made some bad play-calling decisions(did not give LT & Gates the ball more),
#2 SD coaches made some bad game management decisons (clock mgt. by Shott in Q4)
#3 SD players made bad situational football decisions (not going down with the INT and giving TB the chance to strip it)

Our coaching, talent-level and game plan was good enough to win that game.
