My roster has changed a bit, as have most. One major difference in my roster, from the rosters of others, is that I expect that Chad Brown will make the team. bb likes old, experienced insurance at linebacker.

I also still have Miller making the team.

I no longer have Mills making the team. If he makes it, he will need to beat out one of the STers.

We can pick up Vinny as soon as the first player moves to the IR during the season.

LATE CUTS OR TRADES
Washington, Jones, Kenny Smith, Mays

I basically agree with the whole roster.
However only thing i would do is cut brown and keep rogers as a definite.
The young leg beats out miller here as well i believe he has more upside and will not last on the practice squad.
As far as brown well I just have a better feeling about a rookie with alot of potential who came from a small school with mediocre coaching at best.
Well now he's learning from BB and DP kinda makes you smile.
The limited action i watched of him he reminds me of a jason gildon.

11 DBs looks like a lot, even if we bump one for Asante. At least, it's a lot if there are only 5 WRs. I have to think that either of Troy Brown and Kelley Washington could bump the last DB, although with Troy on PUP there's no rush to get him onto the roster. (Does he have enough left to play a full season without getting hurt anyway?)

Excellent job. I like the format -- makes it easy to see where the issues are.

Two points of agreement. I too would have only two QBs on the 53 with Gutierrez on the PS and Vinnie available in the background.

I also would go with Miller -- he gets the ball off quickly, can place it reasonably well and is a good holder.

Early thoughts...I don't see what K. Brown has done to make this team over S. Thomas, R. Moore or L. Smith. IMO BB will go for youth and potential over keeping the old and diminishing C. Brown. D. Thomas is closer to getting on the field than it appears, and will be on the active 53. Josh Miller will make the cut, but be on a very short leash with Baugher on speed dial. Samuel will be back.

I don't ever expect more than four wideouts to be active. There is no reason for six unless one of them is Jackson or Brown, who won't be counted on to produce at wide receiver.

There are only seven DB's. In bb's schemes, it turns out that backup safeties make great Ster's. I would be fine if only one of the SEVEN ST positions wre a defensive back. It turns out that 3 LB's and 4 DB's are most likely to get the final ST positions. These positions could be filled by a TE, a FB or a WR. Beyond having two linebackers and a defensive back in the group, I don't think positions matter.

:agree: Chad Brown's done nothing to show he belongs more than Rogers. Other than that, I'm loving your roster.

how Does David Thomas Not Make This Team!!!?!?!??!?

I think Dave Thomas will be at least on PUP , this yr .. Its not looking good for him so far of contributing in 07.. Sorry but Im on the Kelly Washington over Reche Caldwell bandwagon..

How do you know its not looking good for him? Nothing has been said about his injury.

I have Thomas on the PUP list in my initial post.

I don't see us cutting our 4th round draft pick. He has much more potential than the rest. In any case, he will be given a years as a developmental player on the roster. We can afford 2-3 of those. The #7 DL is never active.
Brown is a potential NT as is Moore. I see us keeping both.

Getting back to Sean Bru, I heard on PWF in progres, that he has not been around even thru walk paractice's which players with torn acl's and fractured knee cap's like Jackson and Brown, are out there.. He could have one of those Liz frank inj's which could cost them the season, that is where I got that info from..

I have Thomas on the PUP list in my initial post.

I'm curious: if Thomas replaces Jones and Rivers he returns, is it okay for this team to end up with three TEs who've had preseason injury problems (Watson, Brady, Thomas)?

This is not a question of your moves as much as a point of concern.

I would take Mills over Rivers/Jones. I think Mills fills the #3 TE spot better.

I would also take Rogers over Brown unless one of the vet LBs gets hurt. Rogers is in a perfect place to be backup LB get experience and work on ST. I don't think Brown plays ST at all.

You WRs look good. I am not sure how the #4 and #5 WRs will fit in without playing on ST, but I'm sure BB will find a way.

The situation is what it is (as a couple of coaches have said in the past). If the doctors think there is a continuing risk, we'll keep a 4th TE when Thomas is activated at mid-season. If Watson and Brady are 100% that likely won't be necessary.

RB - 3 Maroney, Morris, Faulk, Evans (agree)
C - 2 Koppen, Hochstein

OT - 4 Light, Kaycur, O'Callaghan, Britt
WR - 5 Moss, Stallworth, Welker, Caldwell, Gaffney, Washington - I say 6 since Washington is a STer as well
TE - 3 Watson, Brady, Rivers

First of all we don't have 7 freakin' guys who are special teams specialists. Woods and Alexander may play special teams, but they are first and formost LBs, please note.

I think were I disagree with you on offense is in the OL and WR. I think if Yates is out, then we only carry 8 OLmen on the roster. We can keep a couple of OLmen on the PS for protection. It creates a roster spot for the 6th WR.

On Defense I can't see us starting with fewer than 8 DLmen. Especially since both Seymour and Warren are dinged. That leaves on less spot at LB. Brown is the natural guy since he is a vet who knows the system. He can comeback at any time if we hit a rash of injuries. He joins Vinnie on the shadow roster.

In the end the toughest roster spot was the decision between Andrews and Hawkins, and I chose experience over youth, especially since I can hide Andrews on the PS.

I think Garret Mills will also make the active roster
