I think that you guy's are all forgetting this is preseason and BB doesn't care about winning, game planning in the fake season.

To him it's like winning the probowl he doesn't care.

I have alot of faith in Josh Mcdaniels as I am sure BB does as well.
Plus as it was stated before this is BB's offense he is not gonna bring in a Al Saunders or a mike martz as much as some us would love to see that.
That's not BB some play to win the game by 30 points BB plays just to win the game even if it's only by 3.

We will see some cool things believe me but not untill the game against the jets maybe then we'll see the reverse to donte stallworth who backward laterals it to troy brown who then flips it back to bam childress who then hits a wide open randy moss 50 yards down the field.

Hey we can dream can't we?:D

Anyone get the feeling this guy is just a young guy a little over his head?
Hearing him speak does not calm any of my concerns about his abilities.
I don't see this guy winning any chess matches against any DC in the NFL.

I kind of raised this issue last week after looking at Josh's resume on patriots.com It's amazing the position he holds for his football back ground. Like in the Wizard of Oz, I think Bill B. is the man behind the green curtain and is pulling all the levers. Josh may be just a figure head like the Queen of England.

Could you be more specific?

What in particular about that press conference gave you the impression that he's in over his head? All I heard was an articulate and intelligent coach rotating between giving good answers and giving Belichick-type non-answers.

What specifically in his answers prompts you to think that he's going to be outcoached and outplanned by every DC in the league?

crazyeechris, i know it's pre-season, i wasn't referring to the game, but the way this guy speaks and his thought process. you know how when you interview people, you can get an idea for how they work and think based on how they answer questions and talk? well, this guy sounds a little too much like doc rivers and gwb for me, and he also sounds way too vague and inexperienced for my taste.

I understand your concern Mav no offense intended I just think we have alot of nerve second guessing BB on this one.

I remember the same things said about Mangini and now he's the HC of the Jesters.

I understand the lack of coaching experience but if this guy is smart which he seems to be dedicated, which is the reason he was promoted in the first place.

I think were in good hands I saw during the practice lol against the Bucs he was quite vocal when the offense made mistakes and it looked like he had more control then we think he does.

As far as the offense yes it almost looked like a high school ran offense, missing players aside.

When have we ever seen BB be dynamic in the play calling in the pre season?

I believe that BB is holding back so Mangina has nothing on tape besides the team last season and with all the new additions i'm sure they're will be new rinkles on both sides of the ball to make Mangina look like the guy who does nothing but get's credit for what the real mind behind it all accomplishes.
So let's not question Mcdaniels position at least untill the 5th week of the season that should be more than enough time for this ship to get rolling if it is.

Just my 2 cents

in complete agreement.

crazyeechris, as i said before, this thread has nothing to do with pre-season. i understand that the pats are evaluating their role players and don't want to do anything scheme-related.

did you click on that link, and listen to his interview? that is what i am talking about, i'm not talking about his personnel, formation, play decisions, i am talking about this person's thought process in the way he thinks and comes across (which is as a very young person, very inexperienced, who doesn't seem crafty enough to beat any veteran defensive coordinator).

i also realize this is probably way too early to begin questioning him already this season, but this is a guy who i've seen do some really questionable things over the past two seasons (which were also pointed out and discussed here), so it's not like i've gotten concerned over him out of the blue.
