Yeucchh,

I'm real happy for Reiss, but why can't these vermin stay with the Sox and Celts where they belong?

CHB is a natural, but the negative gossip aspects of the former "writes pretty good for a girl" BBall scribe have turned my stomach recently and we really don't need replacements fro Wrong B. in my opinion.

Totally agree. Wipe the slate clean. Banish "Man Hands" MacMullen and CHB so Pats fans don't have to feel morally compromised clicking on the Globe sports page just to read Reiss. Hire Tomase/Breer. Tomase is a better pure word-smith than anyone at the Globe. Has anyone else noticed this? This kid can flat out write when he wants to.

Jackie Mac I don't mind, but Shawshe? That guy probably called the Tuna yesterday to find out if a football is blown up or stuffed. His Anti'Pats bias fits well with the Globe's agenda. After all, someones gotta fill the void left by wRONg Bore-ges.

Shank belongs at the Herald. He's the ultimate tabloid writer. Did you hear his asinine questions to BB at the first presser of camp? It's pathetic.

MacMullen has gone downhill in recent years, too. I used to love reading her pieces on the Celtics, but now she seems so bitter and too jaded by the harsh culture of covering sports.

I used to like Macmullan too, but her negative gotcha pieces about the Pats recently really turned me off.

I usually learn a thing or too from a MacMullen piece.

I get nothing of value from Napolean Dynamite's junk.

Nothing wrong with Jackie Mac that a smack and a bottle of shampoo couldnt help

I just read the Globe Shaugnessey article and there is no doubt, he should stick to baseball.

He had front page below the fold and told us nothing. There was not single solitary paragraph, sentence or word that told me anything of substance. He did not entertain, inform or write anything of interest, which is what I thought a columnist is supposed to do. There was no story there, there simple was nothing there at all.

He somehow found his way from Dorchester & the Back Bay to Foxboro and all he could come up with was an article full of babble wondering why BB simply does not care what he and his fellow pundits write or think about how good this years team may be??

Was he surprised to hear that BB does not think these lofty predictions matter?

Was he shocked to learn that Bill Parcells also feels what he says or thinks is meaningless?

Why could he not understand the simple truth that in order to be the best, it really means that it takes hard work and working hard on doing the things BB mentions, those would be the "stunning series of skull imploding cliches" that Dan scoffed at.

In the middle of all these boring, boundless and altogether pointless words, he decided to take a bizarre shot at the organization, by claiming they are jealous of how much print they get and they actually count the words. Hey, maybe that is what PR people do and so what, I would bet him his typewriter, that if the Patriots organization does it, then the Red Sox surely do as well.

If anything, an article about what Parcells thinks about this team and an analysis from him could have made for a nice read. But , no, Dan takes the time to call him and then decides to lump him together with all the other coaches that Shaugnessey claims really do listen and read what is said and written about their teams.

Sorry Dan, they really don't read what you write and they truly do not care what you have to say and you know what, I don't either.

I actually did learn something from the article after all - I learned that when Dan Shaugnessey writes about football, I need to take a nap.

I haven't been reading Jackie lately but last year/year before she wrote one of the best articles I have ever read on Tedy Bruschi. I am now reading the book she did with Larry Bird...it is very good and very well written.

My problem with MacMullen has everything to do with content, and nothing to do with mysogyny, which I deplore. Did you read the outrageous article she wrote this winter smearing BB? It was the most biased, slanted, agenda driven piece of crap I have ever seen in a sports page. Her intention was to mislead the public, and she succeeded admirably. So I guess she played the role of "good foot soldier" for the Globe/NYTimes/Football haters Inc mafia.

I totally disagree. Time and again the Herald puts the Globe to shame. The Globe is just a backwater mouthpiece for the New York Times. I would suggest that a better use for either the Globe or the NYT would be to line the litter box, or to wrap dead fish, but that would be redunt. Both are already full of cr@p and garbage. ;)

respects,

Can't stand Little Orphan Dannie...

And McMullen is a friggin drag queen...

Yeah, that's what I meant.

I thought she was great as a BBall writer. I made a lame joke too, but that's all it was.

When you jump on the negative slanted bandwagon, you lose me.

He had front page below the fold and told us nothing.

* I did have to agree with him about ESPN's Who's Now crap. They should have called it Who Cares.

That would have been a good heading for Shaugnessey's column. WHO CARES.

At one time if you went to "newspapers" in yahoo the globe was on the first page around #6. The sixth most popular paper read on-line. If you look for it now it's on the third page of the same site 2/3rds of the way down right below the Fort Worth Star-Telegrahm. Oh have the mighty have fallen. The Fort Worth Star TElegrahm? WOW

She's a good writer but recently I've been disturbed by some things she's written. In the article on Ted Johnson she failed to mention even the possibility of Johnson's steriod use (something we've suspected for a long time) which may have something to do with the situation he now finds himself in. Instead she chose to blame Johnson's head injuries on BB. In addition, she wrote some things about Johnny Damon's return to Fenway that were blantantly not true. When I wrote to her about it (politely of course) I got a very rude email in response.

As a woman and a sportsfan, I'd like to support her but I just can't.

I thought that article was really slanted but, to be fair, she can't really mention steroids since he was never accused of or tested positive for them.

Plenty of people have alluded to it, though. Ripping the bicep off your arm is a one in a million freak injury in a normal person. The same thing in the other arm?...................

I think she could have. She could have asked, "some people have wondered whether you took steriods and steriods have been known to cause some of the symptons you've been experiencing. Could they have played a role?" But she didn't because she believes that BB "is a flawed man" which she apparently wrote in an email to someone on this board.

Hoodie, I have to disagree. Some have insinuated about steroids in a very general way, but to ask about that to a player that's never tested positive is almost like accusing them with no evidence.

She would never get a good interview with anyone. If I were a player, I wouldn't talk to her.

No test results and no investigation makes that question almost character assassination.

BB "is a flawed man"

We're all flawed, Hoodie. How you put up with us, I'll never know.:D
