It was a pretty good show this time. I'm glad that its finally back on up here in Maine ch. 8. The interview with Moss wasn't bad, he is not the most dynamic talking player. The lady that interviewed him I must say is hot can't wait for more from her. Glad they did an interview Light he is always fun.

Mike Lynch, over camp footage: "The calendar and the thermometer both tell us it's the last weekend of July. But fans around New England know better. It's football season. They migrate to the heat of Foxboro by the thousands for a peek of Brady, Belichick, Bruschi, and all the other familiar faces of the New England Patriots. There's also anticipation and curiosity about some of the newcomers [such as] Randy Moss, Adalius Thomas, and how they will fit into the Patriots family. Good evening everybody, I'm Mike Lynch, welcome to Patriots All-Access, Training Camp 2007. Glad to have you with us on this final weekend of July. Well, as we showed you, Patriots have opened camp and fans come in by the thousands. More than 10,000 people attended the Patriots' first two sessions on Friday, and you can expect that when the practices are open during double sessions. This is where the Patriots do all their work in the preseason, and the regular season as well [Not exactly - there's other fields for that]. There's a flurry of activity behind me as we continue throughout the next half hour. There's some great anticipation about this season, perhaps none like any other season, so let's not waste any time. Let's kick it off with our All-Access Report, here's Bob Halloran."

Walk-Thru (Punt), 9:05A: Stretch, 9:20A: Practice, 11:00A: Lunch, 12:30P: Staff Meeting): "It's Thursday night at 8:00 and the first day of training camp is meticulously scheduled down to the minute."

Bob Halloran, All-Access Report over camp footage: "And when the moment finally arrived for the start of camp, players took their places and so did thousands of fans. They came to see their favorites, the familiar faces of Brady and Bruschi and Vrabel. And they came to see the new guys like Wes Welker and Adalius Thomas. And they cheered when Tom Brady connected with Randy Moss. But if the fans came to see Asante Samuel or Brandon Meriweather on Day 1, they were disappointed. For some, those two members of the secondary are a primary interest because of their absence from camp. But the Patriots just keep chugging along."

Ellis Hobbs: "You know, the train keeps moving man, it's not a thing where Asante was the only part of this defense. And I say that in no disrespectful manner. It's just right now he's not here. That's the business aspect of it. It's not our position to negotiate that, it's not our position to give an opinion on that. What our position is to do is to be professional about it, continue to practice, and play as if he's not here, which he isn't."

Bob Halloran, Patriots All-Access Report over camp footage: "No Asante, no problem. Expectations remain high for a team that reloaded with plenty of new talent during the offseason. Fans are crazy with anticipation. And while the Patriots reign it in a little bit, they know they're a good team."

Rodney Harrison: "Well we have a competitive team. I don't know what that may result in, whether, you know, it's 10 wins, 12 wins, 14 wins, I don't know, I'm just know we're competitive. We have the ability to go out and be competitive each and every week."

Ty Warren: "There's definitely a lot of excitement with all the acquisitions that we made this offseason and we're excited about it, because we have some notable players that we added onto this team."

Bob Halloran, Patriots All-Access Report over camp footage: "For all the attention paid to who's not around in the defensive backfield, the Patriots are missing a key part of their offensive backfield as well. Without Corey Dillon there to share the load, Laurence Maroney could end up being the featured back."

Laurence Maroney: "Hold on. Timeout. Ain't nobody said anything about I was being a featured back. I just getting a little bit more carries than last year. That's all."

Bob Halloran, Patriots All-Access Report over camp footage: "So with new faces and new roles for some old veterans, the Patriots have taken what they hope is Step 1 on a very long journey. It's a trip that's sure to have unexpected obstacles along the way, but the Patriots have proven three times in recent years they know how to get there from here. Mike Lynch, over tribute to Bucko Kilroy: "The Patriots family mourns the passing of one of the NFL's true legends of the game, when Bucko Kilroy passed away earlier this month at the age of 86. Kilroy played 13 seasons with the Philadelphia Eagles and was named to the All-Decade team of the 1940s. He was a member of the Patriots organization for 36 seasons, serving as a personnel director, general manager, vice president, and most recently, scouting consultant. Bucko Kilroy was a contributor to all five of the franchise's trips to the Super Bowl."

Mike Lynch: "Welcome back to Patriots All-Access and Training Camp 2007. If you've ever been down to Patriots Training Camp here and have watched practice, you have to be impressed with the organization and the efficiency with which the Patriots run this practice. The horns that sound, and the players and coaches move from drill to drill, and they get a lot of work done in the hour and half, hour and 45 minutes or so in which they are out here. You've probably noticed the scoreboard. Every drill and every session is actually timed and they move from one to another."

Mike Lynch, over footage of a 9v7 drill (1st team offense vs. 2nd team defense): "We're going to take you inside and show you one drill right now. It's called the 9v7 drill. There are nine offensive players, there's a center, two guards, two tackles, two ends, a quarterback, and a running back. And then on defense, of course, there are three down linemen and four linebackers. And there are almost as many coaches involved in this. You've got the head coach, the running back coach, the tight end coach, the offensive coordinator, the offensive line coach, then you've got the defensive line coach, the linebackers coach, and the defensive coordinator. They're all yelling at the individual players that they coach. Now the Patriots and most teams in the NFL run a one running back system, and you just saw Kevin Faulk right there. So what are they looking for right here? There's no deception involved here because there are no wide receivers at all, there's no play-action passes. They know it's going to be a run on every play. So the Patriots are looking for the efficiency of the offensive line, how they make their calls, do they make the right blocks, do the quarterbacks make the right read, does the running back make the right read. And the same thing on defense. They're looking how the defensive line responds to the guys coming off the ball, and also how the linebackers respond to their keys as well. Kevin Faulk getting a good bit of the action today, along with Sammy Morris, who you'll see a lot of during this preseason camp. He is wearing #34 as well."

Mike Lynch, over camp footage: "And the other newcomer everyone is looking to see is #81, Randy Moss. Now, in the minicamps he was wearing #6, but now Randy Moss in camp and throughout the year will wear #81. So don't be confused when you're down here and say 'Randy Moss isn't here.' He's #81 and he saw a good bit of action today. You know, every move he makes, all eyes in Foxboro, not only the coaches but also the cameras that record all the practices will be watching Randy Moss and of course everybody else down here. So it's interesting to watch the individual sessions and of course they always end practice with the field goal and extra point team - kick a couple, make them, good, everybody feels good, and that's the end of practice. Junior Seau: "Normally I would do this secretly, just to be ahead of my opponents and what have you, but now I'm here to share."

Kyle Brady: "The same things that went into these battles out here on these fields of the Civil War are really the same things that go into the battles on the fields of the NFL. [Except, you know, the 50,000 casualties in 3 days at Gettysburg]."

Mike Lynch: "Welcome back to Patriots All-Access. Mike Lynch joined by Patriots tackle Matt Light as we open up Training Camp 2007 here and does this ever get to be fun at all?"

Matt Light: "Oh, it's a great time. Well, it's good to get back into it after going through offseason workouts for so long and thinking about the season and thinking about it and hearing everybody talk about it. It's actually good to back into playing football."

Mike Lynch: "Has it changed since you moved from Bryant College, where you're living in dorms, and having to through all that and back down into Foxboro?"

Matt Light: "Oh yeah, it's a lot better. No doubt. Bryant was different. You had to go all the way down to Smithfield, Rhode Island. You got to sleep in a little dorm and the beds weren't that great and I don't even know if there was air conditioning, to tell you the truth. And then you had a long walk with mosquito-infested woods all around you so it's nice to stay home. Everybody stays put. You have a familiar environment. You can just focus in on doing your work."

Mike Lynch: "And there's no wasted time out here. This is an efficient workout, isn't it?"

Matt Light: "Yeah, the way we run things, I think they're very efficient, and I think that's the only way you can do it. You got a lot of guys, and you have a very short period of time really before you're playing your first preseason game. You have to be efficient at what you do."

Mike Lynch: "Alright, what's in store for the rookies? Is it standard every year? Is it the haircut? Do they have to sing the song? I know you're always one of the people behind the organization."

Matt Light: "No, no, I'm there to help support the rookies. What it is for them is that they have to get ready to play football."

Mike Lynch: "What do we have in-store? What rituals, initiations?"

Matt Light: "Well, sometimes we laugh at them. And we snicker at them, especially when they make mistakes out on the field. Other than that, well, sometimes they get lost going back to the hotel or whatever. That's why we have vans for them, as a service. And every now and then, guys get lost up in the building. And there is a fine if you're late to meetings, of course. Other than that though, it's pretty standard. They kind of catch on quickly."

Mike Lynch: "Alright, best part and worst part about training camp?"

Matt Light: "The best part? getting back to playing ball, being around the guys, getting excited for the season. The worst part? Practicing. No, you know, it's tough. The first week of camp is always a difficult time. But that's where you set the tempo for what you're going to do for the rest of the season. So it is what it is."

Mike Lynch: "Does it blow you away how many people show up at practice everyday, there isn't a lick of shade, 90 degrees, just to watch you guys?"

Matt Light: "Well, this is one of the most expensive areas to live in the country. And it's amazing how you don't have to work, you don't go to church on Sunday. Other than that, I think it's nice to have all this support from the fans."

Mike Lynch: "Hey, tell me what's coming up with your celebrity shootout on August 31?"

Matt Light: "What we do is we have our third annual celebrity shootout. What we do is we have all the guys come out. The guys have team and they go around and they shoot sporting play, which is kind of like trap or skeet. You're kind of shooting moving targets. A lot of fun."

Mike Lynch: "That's August 31, it's down in Mapleville, Rhode Island, is that right?"

Matt Light: "Yeah, at Addieville East Farms in Maplville, Rhode Island. It's actually not not to far from Smithfield, and it's a lot of fun. I'll tell ya, it's definitely one of the most unique events around."

Mike Lynch: "I think the media would be wise to stay away that day because you guys have guns in your hands. Not a wise place to be, eh?"

Matt Light: "Yeah, you might want to take a jacket. With a bullsey- no, I'm kidding."

Mike Lynch: "Well, we have a new member of our cast, Kristina Akra, and she's going to be interviewing Randy Moss. Want to toss it to her, right now, Kristina?"

Matt Light: "Kristina, back to you, enjoy it."

Kristina Akra: "Thanks Matt, I'm here in the studio with a newcomer to the Patriots team, Randy Moss. Thank you for joining us Randy. Coming in, let's start off with the atmosphere out there at training camp, it's gotta be different from what you've experienced. Over 4,000 are out there to watch. What is it like to be a part of it?"

Randy Moss: "Well, it feels good to be able to start training camp off on the upside from being fresh from injury, and get back to playing football and having fun. And just hearing the fans, how they love their team, love their hometown teams, it feels good just to hear everybody scream and the guys going out here competing. So it's a good feeling."

Kristina Akra: "What are some of the adjustments that you made coming into New England and a new team?"

Randy Moss: "There really hasn't been any. I think the main thing I tried to focus on was just making sure I came in healthy, ready to go, and that's the biggest thing I've focused on since last season ended. And I'm looking forward to a lot of things, hopefully, getting to the top of things."

Kristina Akra: "So far have you been able to see what makes the Patriots an elite team?"

Randy Moss: "Yeah. And I don't really want to speak upon it because I think a lot of people that are affiliated with the New England Patriots organization know what makes it great. But a lot of people on the outside looking in don't know and really it's not my job to really explain to them what makes this organization great. I think once Coach Belichick gets his team together, the 53-man roster, 11 guys out there on Sunday, I think you'll see what makes us great. [Randy has already mastered the art of the non-answer]"

Kristina Akra: "The positive energy that automatically comes with this team, does that influence you in any way?"

Randy Moss: "No, because I try to play up-beat anyway. So I don't know how energized they play, as far as the locker room, on the sidelines, things like that. But I try to stay up-beat and it's not always my mouth, most of the time it's music, signing, or whatever it may be. So like I said earlier, when I first got here, I'm really glad to be a part of this, and hopefully everything that we've done in the offseason minicamps and hopefully training camp that it will pay off in the long run."

Kristina Akra: "Did you get to pick any of the music that's been played at training camp yet?"

Randy Moss: "No, I don't really get into that. Like I said, as far as my own personal motivation, I usually talk and joke with the guys. Music doesn't really get me moving, especially in practice. Game time is different. But in practice is more about waking up, and getting loose, and stretching and getting warm so that's one thing I try to focus on, really not the music."

Kristina Akra: "This early on in the season, do you allow yourself at all to get excited about the potential of this team?"

Randy Moss: "Well I don't see how you can't, or I don't see why we shouldn't, because we have to go out there and do it. I know there's a lot of high expectations for this team. And it's not put on us from the outside, it's put on us from the inside. And that's all the way from Mr. Kraft, all the way to the players, trainers, and equipment manager. So that's one thing I can see everybody on the same page with. We're not walking around arrogant, we're not walking around ****y, just confidence. We know that we have to go to work, we have to lift weights, we know we have to be on time so that is not really ****iness, that's really confidence in what we're trying to do and what we're trying to be. So I would say we're just confident in what we're trying to do here."

Kristina Akra: "Thank you for joining us."

Randy Moss: "Alright, thank you."

Kristina Akra: "Alright, we're going to go back to you, Mike, thanks."

Mike Lynch: "Alright, Kristina, thank you very much. Joining us now is head coach Bill Belichick for our first All-Access of the season, and we're not going to go into numbers of how many camps it's been for you, but it's been a lot of them. Are they all the same, are they different every year?"

Bill Belichick: "Well Mike, it's over 30, to some degree they're all the same, but each one is unique. You're always putting a new team together from scratch and it's a lot of work to do, from the ground-up. And you just have to see how it goes and play a little bit by-ear. You have a little bit of a basic structure but there's a lot of adjusting on the run."

Mike Lynch: "Years ago, players came into camp to get in-shape. That changed years and years ago. What happens in the first couple days of practice here? Is it more about competition? Is it about execution? Are you looking for things?"

Bill Belichick: "Well, it's definitely about competition. We spend a lot of time in spring going through the passing camps and the minicamps to get everything taught and installed, and now it's time to go out there and start executing the techniques in pads. Especially for the linemen, the front seven people, to start working on their pad level, their leveraging, their hand use and the contact part of the game which we really can't do in the spring. There's still a lot of learning going on, but we need to start competing."

Mike Lynch: "Does it blow you away how many people come down here everyday in the thousands just to watch practice in the heat?"

Bill Belichick: "Yeah, we got a great turnout and we've gotten great support here and it's awesome. We got good fans."

Mike Lynch: "As a player, you remember back into your high school and college days you hated the heat. When you're a a coach, do you love when they [they?] turn up the temperature a little bit?"

Bill Belichick: "Well, we need it. I think it's good for your team, it puts them under some stress, and we need to see that sooner or later, our first preseason game is in Tampa, so we know there will be a lot of heat down there and humidity so it's good to start working in it. And by the end of the year we'll be taking a look at some other elements on the field so that's just part of it. But I know the players have been training in it, so I don't think it's anything that they shouldn't be able to handle."

Mike Lynch: "Every practice, there's no wasted time, it's very efficient. They move and there's no one standing around. Now, is this standard fare and has it been this way for camps for a long time?"

Bill Belichick: "Well, we try to get on and off the field and use our time efficiently. There's no sense of going out there and wasting time, we try to make it productive. But the players, we've gone over things they need to cover and they know kind of where they need to be so we like to go and get moving, that's the way the game is, it moves quickly from situation from situation, offense, defense, kicking plays. So that's a little bit was practice is, going from one drill to another, one situation from another."

Mike Lynch: "How do you pick which part of the practice you want to watch? I see you moving from different fields and different areas."

Bill Belichick: "Well, it depends on what we're working on, and maybe what I've seen the day before, something specific that's going on that I want to watch, or a particular group of players. I usually just try to highlight that on my practice schedule and then go to the areas that I feel like I want to take a look at. But we film it, so in the end you get to see most it anyway."

Mike Lynch: "Great coach, 2007 is here."

Bill Belichick: "Alright Mike, thank you."

Mike Lynch: "Coach Belichick, we'll be right back with more Patriots All-Access right after this break."

Actually, Moss is usually a great interview. In this case the hotness of his interviewer left him tongue-tied. The Patriot powers that be should know better than to foist eye candy like that on us. It's distracting for viewer and player alike.

Mike Lynch, over footage of autograph signings: "One of the more rewarding parts of coming down to Patriots practice is a chance for an autograph. The Patriots are very gracious with their time and after workouts, they actually block-out time for the players to come outside and sign autographs before the horn sounds, then they have to get back in for meetings and/or lunch. Tom Brady, first guy over to sign autographs on the first workout of the season. And of course, everybody wants a piece of Randy Moss. People want to see him practice, and of course the media wants to talk to Randy Moss, wearing #81 this season."
