Pats on PUP
By Mike Reiss, Globe Staff

The following Patriots players have been placed on the physically unable to perform list, according to the league's internal personnel wire:

WR Troy Brown
RB Justise Hairston
WR Chad Jackson
CB Eddie Jackson
S Mel Mitchell
DL Richard Seymour
TE David Thomas
WR Kelley Washington

These players, who are at different stages in their rehabilitations, can not participate in practice until they come off the PUP list. They all count against the 80-man roster limit.

Re: Pats place 8 on Active/PUP

Unless I'm missing something, the Elgin and K. Brown signings put the Pats at 82. These moves don't rectify that number, so I guess we're still waiting for 2 more moves...

I know Seymour was kind of banged up last year and he was excused from some of camp last year as well for whatever reason, but is there something new that has come up with him? Or is Belichick just giving him some rest to fully heal before the pounding starts again?

Well no Maroney or Stallworth yet anyways!

Notice one important name that's not there: Stallworth.

It's either now or never as far as the PUP goes. As soon as they practice the PUP isn't an option.

Well that good to hear then I'm just hoping they don't announce anymore in the next couple days.

Are NFLE exemptions not applicable now that the league has folded? I thought we had two, though don't ask me who they are.

Anyone know whats wrong with Kelley? Thisi is a huge camp for him, I have high hopes for him to make this team, hopefully it's not a long term thing.

Yes, they still apply, as there was still a 2007 NFLE season.

The Pats have 3: Baugher, Malone, and Barthelmes.

But they also have 87 players on their roster. Minus the 3 NFLE gives 84. Minus Get Paid gives 83. Minus Meriweather gives 82.

Yeah, he drops passes.

Seymour to PUP?

I didn't know he was injured

So are you saying we have to be down to 80. I thought the number was 86.

Re: Seymour to PUP?

Seymour had knee surgery in the offseason. NE regularly puts guys on the active PUP at the start of the preseason until it is obvious that they are ready. If they didn't do that and the player has a setback they can't move them onto the reserve PUP later on.

It is most likely a nonissue and Seymour will be practicing within a week or two.

Re: Seymour to PUP?

Gave me a scare at first, but won't affect regular season.

Offseason limit has never been 86. Always 80. ;)

Isn't pup also added if no one passes the condition test yet also???
