Started to look at 2008 draft sites. Much too early but came up with this for Pats 2008 draft (includes juniors) - couldn't resist!

1-17 Patriots Derrick Harvey DE/LB Florida
1-32 Patriots Malcolm Jenkins CB Ohio State
2-64 Patriots James Davis RB Clemson
3-70 Patriots Martellus Bennett TE Texas A&M
3-96 Patriots Shawn Crable LB Michigan
4-130 Patriots Peyton Hillis FB Arkansas
5-162 Patriots Andrew Bain G Miami
6-202 Patriots Joe Flacco QB Delaware
7-241 Patriots Jarett Dillard WR Rice

I'm a big Davis fan. If Belichick wants to feature a RBBC, Davis could easily play the role of Dillon.

I also like Crable. Flacco is an interesting pick.

Nice first post, a 7 round mock in July is pretty hard core.

I am holding out hope for some of these players, cross them off your lists they are now forever jinxed.
Pick 1
- James Laurinaitis, (ILB), Ohio State (JR)
- Justin King (CB), Penn State (JR)
- Tyson Jackson, (DE), LSU (JR)
- Quentin Groves (OLB), Auburn

Pick 2
- Jasper Brinkley (ILB), South Carolina
- Kenny Phillips (S), Miami (JR)
- Dan Connor (LB), Penn State
- Philip Wheeler (ILB), Georgia Tech

I'd love if we got laurinaitis. one mock draft i saw has us taking Jeremy Lemen. cant say i'm too familiar with him, but they call him a perfect fit as a Patriot linebacker. anyone know much about him?

Kenny Phillips is being touted as a top 10- pick ala Sean Taylor. Granted, a lot can happen between now and then, but I'd be surprised if he lasted to the Pats 1st pick, never mind the second.

The 2nd pick is a reach, NFLDraftScout has him at 13 for 2009, which would place him in the 10-20 range if he comes out in 08. The SF pick should be in that general area.

Anyway, it is an early early early wishlist. It is like when you first get the Sears Christmas catalog, you circle every single toy at first. Closer to Christmas you realize you can only have one or two and begin to really narrow your options.

Who is on your wishlist?

I also really like Davis of Clemson. The good news for Pats fans is that Clemson has 2 really good RB's and Barry Richardson at OT, therefore Davis won't come to us with a lot of mileage on those shoulders.

The Harvey pick scares me. I'm having a hard time projecting him into the old Willie McGinsest role.

Leman has good size (6-2, 240) and was very productive on a relatively weak Illinois team last year with 152 tackles. http://www.nfldraftscout.com/ratings/profile.php?pyid=9800

Can't say I watched him play much. I've got my eye on another productive guy on a relatively weak team (playing in the SEC being the relative part).
He's Jonathan Goff, linebacker for Vanderbilt from Lynn, Mass:

thanks. i'll be keeping an eye on both

Here's my wish list. I'm holding off on draft placement because I'm too much of a sissy, but I think the positions are comparable:

DE/OLB Tommy Blake, TCU
OT Gosder Cherilus, BC
ILB Jonathan Goff, Vanderbilt
CB Glenn Sharpe, Miami
RB Justin Forsett, Cal
WR Darius Reynaud, WVU

Okay. On to training camp!

Kenny Phillips SS and Antoine Cason CB
are interesting prospects.

Cason might even be available at 32 because he doesn't display blistering speed.

Phillips on the other hand is an intimdiating and athleticially gifted safety. He would project to be the long term replacement for Rodney Harrison. If San Fran's pick is high enough, we may be in position to select Phillips.

With Stoops at practice the other day, I have to believe that there is at least Oklahoma player on the Pats draft board....
As for the TE selection, it wouldn't be a Pats draft without one...(this year excepted) Sort of like the Lions and wide receivers.......
