Just confirmed that I am going to the game against the jets on Sept. 9 at the Jets. Never been to the Meadowlands. What should I expect wearing my Flutie jersey and hat?

Expect trouble, also keep an eye out for Jimmy Hoffa's body. There might be reward money in it for you.

I think you'll be OK.

I went to a Pats/Jets game in NJ in 2002 after we won our first SB. The second I got out of the car with my Milloy jersey, I was subject to some pretty horrible behavior from Jet fans. The Pats won 44-7, but they still talked crap throughout the parking lot.

The fans inside the stadium were ok, it was just the scum outside that made the experience awful (except for the asskicking the Pats gave them). In my opinion, Jet fans are the worst fans in the NFL.

If you're going to have some beers, buy them before you get near the meadowlands. I went to the Monday night game a few years back, and we ran out of beers. This local package store charged us $18 for a 12 pack of Brooklyn ale. Ripoff!

Thanks! I'll have backup attire just in case! I will wear the colors, but I also don't want to smell like stale beer after the Pats thump 'em.

I went at the end of the 05 season, when they were already out of the playoffs. Didn't have anyone start trouble with us (which is pretty amazing considering I was drunk and using a megaphone). They weren't the friendliest either, though, we usually like to hang out with fans from the other team at away-game tailgates, the ones who are actually there for the game, but we didn't run into anyone decent where we were parked.

Where did you find tickets?? I would like to go to that game.

Go early. If you aren't with a season ticket holder, you won't be able to park at the Meadowlands.

Offsite parking only, no tailgating allowed (strictly enforced), have take a shuttle to the stadium, and not allowed to carry anything on the bus.

They've only had one practice run with the new parking setup (with a concert last week) and I hear it was a mess.

Check out the Jets or Giants website for detailed info.

I went twice, once 2 years ago the day after xmas and they were so bad by that point there were more pats fans than jets fans

The last time I went was week 2 last year..........long story short I ended up having to threaten a father with death cause his kids were throwing marshmallows at my wife and I and I ended up punching some guy in the face for repeatedly putting his hands on my wife.....

You really might as well just go in street clothes.........that way you can just go and have a good time without worry

Jets fans are all talk, but if you don't want to be bothered just bring a backup. If you are wearing a Flutie jersey then they will probably thing you are from Canada and you'll be fine.

I live in NYC, and have gone to every Jets/Pats game at the Meadowlands for the last 7 years, except 2 years ago when it was a Monday night game the day after Xmas. Anyways I have always had decent experiance. I usually go with a few Jets fans buddies of mine, as well as a Pats fan friend of mine, and we all have a great time, cheerfull ribbing between us. And for the most part have the best tailgates. Very much like in Foxborough. Its a great tailgate place. The Jets fans are not that bad, you may hear some things yelled at you. But mstly its good natured stuff. As in any stdium you can have a few bad apples, who may throw stuff at you, but that is few and far between.

As far as the stadium the other poster brought up a great point. They are building the new stadium, and a lot f the parking lot cant be used, so they are shuttling in from remote spots. So get their real early to the main lot before its filled, do not park in the remote lots. This is year one of the new construction, and since this is game 1, it wil be pretty chaotic and I am sure annoying.

Thanks for the tip, but I'm w/ a season ticket holder. I'm pretty psyched! The last time I saw the Pats play Hugh Millen was the QB and **** MacPherson was the coach. I think it was '91.
