I will say this about Oliver, I know he only ran 4.55 or so he is much better in zone than man which makes his lack of spped a little less observable and he has great ball skills. He blew a few assignments last year and really seemed lost out there at times, but again if the ball is in his zip code, he'll track it.

oliver will be our 4th cb this season at best
drayton florence aka the headbutter will walk to free agency in 08 , hopefully we can get some good compensatory picks for michael turner and florence.
florence has got some skill but he does make some stupid decisions and doesn't always capitalize on his opportunities, that's my guess as to why he wasn't offered a contract extension before now
yeah, i'm not doubting oliver's potentialbeing 4th string doesnt make him bad
-Jammer is a borderline pro bowler
-HeadButter played well last year but had a lot of drops
-Cromartie was round 1 and hes a freak
yeah, i'm not doubting oliver's potential
hell i even think florence could be a stud if NE signed him
NE does wonders with secondary players via coaching
like i said, NE has an effect on players once they join upu realize Florence was the 1 who was bad mouthing us 2 years ago and then headbutted Graham? Hes too much of a ******
like i said, NE has an effect on players once they join up
you guys really do get the most out of some people
drayton maybe, but i bet NE would take phillips if they could get himi dont recall anyone we ever signed badmouthing us and taunting us after a regular season win.
what effect do we have? Not all players want to go to a certain place and not all coaches want a certain player.
i doubt Drayton-Shaun Phillips would be welcome here if they wanted to.

and i was complimenting NE , they get the most out of their players.
it's always amazed me what they can do with their secondary
eh athletes go anywhere for money.i doubt that phillips would ever come here though. he seems to still be angry over the loss and badmouthing us again.
Well looks like my prediction came true. Oliver with a 4th rounder at the earliest. Those of you who predicted a 2nd round pick can wipe the egg off now. Oliver might turn out to be a fine corner. But the risks were high and a lot of teams as you can see passed on him for the issues I have enumerated in numerous posts: mediocre measurements, questionable intellect, etc. I think a lot of you guys were on the Oliver bandwagon in large part because of the uncertainty with Samuel so I can't blame you, however the Pats were not desperate enough to bite just because of that. Don't worry, Samuel will very likely sign the franchise tender and we will be all set to go for 2007.
Mike Reiss said:Oliver is represented by Chayut, and when the Patriots did not attend Oliver's Pro Day workout but decided to hold their own workout for him, the sides came together to make it happen."
Yes, you were also the person who claimed that the Patriots had NO INTEREST in Oliver. Yet, guess what. The Pats had a PRIVATE WORKOUT for him.
To the person who said the Pats had no interest in Oliver, I have some information for you

So, the Pats had so little interest in Oliver that they decided to hold their own private workout for him.....
So, all you garbage about Oliver is still unfounded.
I think the Pats will examine in great detail any and all avenues necessary to make the team better, even a private workout for a supplemental player.
PS: I don't believe Oliver has 4.4 speed. Last year I watched a WRs from Vandy and Tenn. blow by Oliver all game.
