Great Troy Brown article

I think that Troy will be re-signed before camp. Troy wants it, BB wants it, it will get done. Now I think that with this new WR corps; Troy may have a bigger impact than one might think. EVERYONE KNEW WHERE BRADY WAS GOING TO IN CLUTCH SITUATIONS for the last few years. Troy was the only reciever that Brady could rely on. Now imagine a 3rd down and ten situation next year, Moss, Stallworth, on the outside, Welker and Brown in the slots, Troy is no longer going to draw the nickel back, or even the best cover safety, most likely Troy will be covered by a LB, and he is still good enough to get himself open, and make the clutch catch.

Is he going to catch 90 balls? Never, but he may catch 30 very important ones.

So we'll sit all our tight ends and play Troy Brown, and you think that we'll have better options. I would rather have Watson or Thomas or Brady as the 4th receiver, depending in yardage needed and down.

Brown still has a place on this team. It might not be a big one, but if, for example, Welker missing some games to injury, Brown would be vital to the offense not missing a beat.

There are no "slots". There is *a* slot and either Wes Welker or Randy Moss is going to be in it. As much as I love him, it's hard to see where Troy Brown would fit on this team.

Troy Brown will take Oscar Lua's spot, breaking hearts all over America.

I do not expect Troy Brown to be on the 53 to start the season, but there is always a spot. I have Mays and Andrews making the team as special teamers (in addition to Izzo, Hawkins/Mitchell and Woods). He could have one of those spots. It is isn't my preference, but the loss is unlikely to be much to have Mays or Andrews on the Practice Squad instead of the 53 (or Lua if you have him making the 53).

If you want to apply logic...remember, thee is always room for a football player on a roster. Your scenario would have meant Troy would not have been in San Diego and thus, that game would not have been won by NE.

It's OK to keep the heart and soul of a team.....especially when he is there when you need a play the most at the most crucial time.

Last year, Troy Brown was a critical member of the team, as Wiggins and Redmond wer in that season so long ago. Are you suggesting that we keep on the 53 anyone was a critical member of the 2006 team?

I love Troy too and what he has done for the team yet I have a hard time placing him on the team as a WR. We are already staffed well;

1-Moss
2-Stallworth
3- Welker
4- Caldwell
5- Gaffney
6- Washington

Perhaps part time in the secondary and player coach?

I don't think Washington will make it.

Though, they could just throw caution to the wind and carry 7 receivers.

I understand your point fully and I do not suggest this applies to "anyone" only one as a matter of fact - Troy Brown.

Now, we all know BB & SP built this dynasty by not allowing emotion to enter into any decision and to always make their decisions in the best interest of the NE Patriots football team.

I have to believe BB knows the depth chart at the position very well and I also have to believe he knew exactly what he was saying when he said there will be a place for Troy Brown on this years squad.

Maybe injuries will come into play, maybe not - no matter, I do not see BB going back on what he said and I do see Troy Brown on the 53 man roster.
I would pretty much guarantee he will contribute to a few wins along the way because that is what he does.
