They have somewhat redeemed themselves with this selection.
If he can keep his weight down and learn to defend, Davis could be a big time player someday.

Let's hope Big Baby is not a Big Bust. Yes I know, witty...

Ok now that's going a little over the top with the homerism.
I like Big Baby's size/strength combination, but he really needs to control his weight or he could literally eat his way out of the league.

hahah
oh i dont think he will be better
i should have capitalized the word "could"

Yeah, I'd say really good value for early 2nd round, worth the risk, especially since he doesn't get any guaranteed money and will have to work for a spot. Hopefully we get a few good years out of him, then watch him sign somewhere else for big money up front and get morbidly obese.

Could be another round mound of rebound.. maybe not.

How can I put this kindly...You know what they say about blind squirrels and acorns.........even they find one once in a while........pretty much the case here....

Then what your saying is Ainge doesn't know college talent? You should check out the Celtics roster and where (how high) each player was drafted, then explain to me how Ainge doesn't know talent.

Undersized power forwards are one of the best bets with second round picks. They are usually guys who everyone thinks has an NBA game, just not NBA size. They usually make very nice end of the rotation players (8th/9th men).

I'm not sure that means a team needs to have 3 of them as the Celtics now do by addidng Davis to Powe and Gomes.

They're great when you have a roster that needs a productive 8th or 9th man, but suck on a roster that is filled with them. :(

The C's never, ever take a flyer on a Euro who might not be available for a year or two. With two 2nd's so close, they should have. Instead we've now got a roster of small PF's, and SG's who try to play the point.

Personally, I thought this was another desperation move by Ainge "Draft someone they will have heard of".

Facts: Glen Davis is short, overweight, can't jump. Good defender, pretty good rebounder, decent low post moves. However, that whole last sentence applies to people around his height.

I'll honestly be surprised if he makes the team, and if he does, unless Rivers goes back to the 11-man rotation, he won't see the floor much. Can you imagine him going up against Zach Randolph? Not to mention, oh, Howard, Duncan, Wallace, etc..

I think there thinking along the lines of a Danny Fortson with a couple of inches more height, and some better ball skills around the basket. That being said, Tractor Trailer anyone? He was exactly as you describe, was taken in the top 10, and STUNK! I hope Big Baby is better than that.
