Re: 2008 Patriots Roster – Projected 06-26-07

Having two number 84's will surely wreak havoc on opposing defenses. BB thinks of everything.

Re: 2008 Patriots Roster – Projected 06-26-07

What about our 2008 draft picks???

Re: 2008 Patriots Roster – Projected 06-26-07

Asante Samuel is going to hold out AGAIN?

Re: 2008 Patriots Roster – Projected 06-26-07

My stab at 2007:

WR - Dropped Washington

TE - Added TE 45 Garrett Mills

LB – Added 58 Pierre Woods

CB – Dropped Willie Andrews

S – Dropped Mel Mitchell and added 32 Rashaad Baker

Practice Squad:
QB 7 Matt Gutierezz; 43 RB Justise Hairston; T 76 Clint Oldenburg; LB 49 Oscar Lua; 51 Justin Rodgers; CB 35 Mike Richardson; maybe Elgin or Hilliard
(I don't think some of those guys you listed are qualified to be on the PS... maybe I am wrong)

------------------------------------------
PUP - Added WR 80 Troy Brown
------------------------------------------

no way they carry 5 d lineman they had 7 last year also mills makes it

Re: 2008 Patriots Roster – Projected 06-26-07

CB – Dropped Willie Andrews

Say it ain't so! I think Willie will hang around. He offers the versatility of being able to play CB and S as well as being a Special Teams standout. Didn't he also play at WR in TC last year.

Needless to say I took a liking to Willie A last year.
Seems like a prototype Patriot.

Re: 2008 Patriots Roster – Projected 06-26-07

Mills will last on the practice squa for all of two seconds.

I wish we could carry like 60 players on the roster!

No Mills?!?

OL - 67 Dan Koppen ; 72 Matt Light; 70 Logan Mankins; 61 Stephen Neal; 77 Nick Kaczur; 71 Russ Hochstein; 68 Ryan O'Callaghan; 65 Wesley Britt; 74 Billy Yates

Doubt the Pats would carry a 4th OT if they carry Mills (numbers-wise, not because Mills can play OT or anything).

------------------------------------------
Defense (25)

DL – 93 Richard Seymour; 75 Vince Wilfork; 94 Ty Warren; 97 Jarvis Green; 99 Mike Wright

Seriously doubt the Pats will carry only 5 DLs. They usually carry 7, although I could possibly see 6. I'd definitely add 2 of Brown/L. Smith/Thomas/Moore/K. Smith here.

LB – 54 Tedy Bruschi; 50 Mike Vrabel; 96 Adalius Thomas; 59 Rosevelt Colvin; 55 Junior Seau; 53 Larry Izzo; 52 Eric Alexander

No Woods?!? No Rogers?

They sure as hell won't be carrying 2 OLBs (Colvin, Vrabel). 7 is a very low number for the Pats at LB.

CB – 27 Ellis Hobbs; 28 Tory James; 30 Chad Scott; 21 Randall Gay; 23 Willie Andrews; 80 Troy Brown; 31 Antwain Spann

Brown could make the team, but it would come at the expense of Washington or Gaffney or another at WR. I wouldn't say this is a good place to list him on the roster, because in actuality he's a 7th WR on the roster, which is a flaw.

I could see Spann making the team, but only if he beats out Richardson.

S – 37 Rodney Harrison; 25 Artrell Hawkins; 38 Brandon Meriweather; 36 James Sanders; 26 Eugene Wilson; 24 Mel Mitchell

There's no way in hell Mills gets through waivers and to the squad. Same probably goes with Brown, and possibly Lua. You're dreaming here, Armen.

The only way Childress and Thomas can stay on the practice squad is if the Pats keep 53 on their roster, by the 2006 Billy Yates rule.

All fine, although looks like a Smith mystery injury. Samuel goes on the Reserve/Did not Report list, as Branch did last year.

I like Andrews too. This is really hard... especially without the benefit of training camp.

Re: 2008 Patriots Roster – Projected 06-26-07

In a zillion years, Troy Brown does not make this team as a CB. Also, I echo the reaction to Garrett Mills. He makes the 53, and no way does he go to the p.s.

Re: 2008 Patriots Roster – Projected 06-26-07

I'll try my hand at it.

QB-
Tom Brady
Matt Cassel

WR-
Donte' Stallworth
Wes Welker
Randy Moss
Jabar Gaffney
Reche Caldwell

RB-
Laurence Maroney
Kevin Faulk
Sammy Morris
Heath Evans (FB)

TE/H-back-
Ben Watson
Dave Thomas
Kyle Brady
Garrett Mills

OL-
Matt Light
Logan Mankins
Dan Koppen
Stephen Neal
Ryan O'Callaghan
Russ Hochstein
Wesley Britt
Billy Yates

LB-
Tedy Bruschi
Junior Seau
Adalius Thomas
Mike Vrabel
Rosevelt Colvin
Oscar Lua
Larry Izzo
Eric Alexander
Pierre Woods

CB-
Asante Samuel (hopefully)
Ellis Hobbs
Randall Gay
Chad Scott
Torey James
Mike Richardson

S-
Rodney Harrison
Eugene Wilson
James Sanders
Brandon Meriweather
Artrell Hawkins

DL-
Richard Seymour
Ty Warren
Vince Wilfork
Jarvis Green
Mike Wright
Kareem Brown

K-
Stephen Gostkowski

P-
Danny Baugher

LS-
Lonnie Paxton

PUP-
Chad Jackson
Eddie Jackson

PS-
Antwain Spann
Corey Mays
Bam Childress
Justise Hairston
Clint Oldenburg
Mike Elgin
Matt Gutierrez
Le Kevin Smith
Santonio Thomas

This is the first roster I have ever done so I may be off in terms of positions numbers. I found the hardest to predict was the offensive line. We have so many players and we don't know who the starter will be at RT. Predicting the back ups was difficult. I do not envy Belichick with the decisions he has to make for the final roster.

!

Hey man that a little harsh. I'd say more like 5 seconds;)

Why would you drop Mel Mitchell and Willie Andrews? Personally, I don't see how you can drop Mitchell for Baker when Mitchell is a better Safety, both on special teams and as a reserve. Andrews is a great special teamer as well and I think he'll be in the spot allocated for Troy Brown.

Re: 2008 Patriots Roster – Projected 06-26-07

I don't believe that Bam Childress is Practice Squad Eligible. I am not sure about Kelvin Kight either. I think its much more likely that Brian Barthelmes ends up back on the practice squad.

Not sure that Elgin would make it to the practice squad with Denver out there lurking. I am sure that its gotten around how good he looked at mini-camp.

I see a trade of Hochstein by the Pats to ensure that Elgin stays with them.

I believe Childress can be on the practice squad as long as the 53 man roster is always full. It's the Billy Yates rule, right?

The Billy Yates rule allows for only a 3rd year of practice squad eligibility. And last year made 3 for Bam.

I believe last year was his second. Childress was a rookie in 2005.

That is correct.
