Do you feel we can stay healthy for a year which has not happened it seems forever, there is always an area that gets banged up and the team digs deep into the roster and street free agents to replace the lost.

Do you think this is the year where the secondary can play almost as intact as week 1 or will the WR corps remain the deepest in the league and stay mainly injury free?

If we can stay somewhat away from what has plagued us over the past decade I think this team will be extremely tough to knock out of the AFCCG at least if not the whole SB thing as well.

I have a feeling we may have a weak injury riddled area sometime during the season but hope its not in the QB or D front areas,Otherwise I think we can survive as we have done in our SB wins although the street and bargain basement free agents and lower draft picks have not been able to get the job done in the past 2 years,This year I hope we don't even need to find any replacements to some extent.

Injury can never be predicted obviously and I hope we don't need to worry finally,Our time for a very light injury season is overdue-We shall see.

My injury fears center around Qb, DL and RB. Qb because we have been so d@mn lucky with Brady. DL because #75 and #94 have been very durable thus far, and odds seem against that continuing. And rb for obvious reasons.

If Brady is hurt, I think Cassell can still shepherd this team to 10 wins. If Wilfork/Warren go down for an extended time, the team could still manage 11 wins with this schedule, although the age at ILB may be exposed and the offense will be under great pressure. If Maroney gets injured for an extended period, they can still manage 11 wins.

As always the defensive backfield, and maybe LB'S

Rodney, as much as I love him, is a lock to get injured. I just hope our WR corps stays intact.

By the way, I think Manning is way more overdue for a serious injury than Brady is.

Wilfork is another key player, tough to replace if he goes down.

I fully agree with the first part; I was just telling someone today that I don't see Rodney going the whole season without being hurt. No slight on the player himself, that's just how it's been the last couple years.

The second part, I'm not so sure. I hope I never see the day Brady actually gets hurt. My heart just about stopped last year when he got crushed against... whoever, and took a LONG time to get up. Manning's invincible though, with the skill of his line (and that includes their ability to fairly hold).

You mean the Jaguars? I loved it when he did get up, come back in two plays later, and throw a lazer over the middle.

And you forget that Marino's offensive line was allowed to fairly hold. Didn't stop him from blowing his Achilles' tendon.

As the only way I can see this team not going at least 14-2 and winning the Super Bowl is if Brady goes down, my nightmare is that Brady could get injured.

I really doubt Eugene Wilson gets hurt. He's in a contract year year. I think Randall Gay is as well.

I'm very superstitious, in the fact that I believe words are powerful. So, not to get into specifics, the Pats will be awesome this year, with minimal injuries. *Knocks on wood.*

Maroney, Maroney and um...err.... Maroney. This is why Sammy Morris will be the most underrated acquisition of the offseason.

I refuse to even think about injuries. I do not want the burden of that jinx on my shoulders.

Wilfork is #75. ;)

My gut feeling is that there will be at least one injury this year.

Just call it a hunch.

Brady's arm falls off throwing so much to The Trinity. Goes on IR. Pats go 2-14.

the annual injury rate in the nfl is over 100%. many players get hurt more than once. if we can lost fewer than 30 player-games to injuries, it will be a good season.

we cannot lose brady. despite our seemingly good OL, he still takes several dozen big hits every season.

did you ever notice that, on parcells' teams, everyone suited for every game? it was like that when was here, and the injury reports had, like 2 names, every week with cowboys.

rodney will get hurt, because a) he's at that stage in his career, and b) because of the way he plays.
seymour will get hurt, because they try to cut him on virtually every play. eugene wilson will get hurt, because he's not supposed to be playing safety. he's not built for it. neither is meriweather.
if they run faulk on draws up the middle, he will get hurt.
bruschi will get hurt. he's at that stage in his career, and he's in the thick of it every play.
at least 2 WRs will get hurt. hamstring or knee. that's why BB/SP will try to hide 9 WRs on the roster, IR, PUP

This might be the most stupid post in the history of Patsfans.com

Eugene Wilson and Gay won't get hurt becasue they are in a contract year?

You mean if either gets a hit below the knee awkwardly in ANY play and at ANY time or someone gives an illegal chop block they will simply get up and run away because its a contract year and will miraculously heal if its a torn ACL ect?

I don't care if its a contract year or not,Your ACL and other season ending injuires can happen regardless of anything - That post makes absolutely no sense to me.

I wasn't actually trying to be serious. Maybe I should have put a smiley or something. I was playing on how some players seem to have good years during the contract year - that's all. Of course there could be a serious injury, that's just football.

Yeah,A smiley was definately needed there - That post was so bad,it scared me of how stupid it appeared at first

Thanks for alleviating my fears ;)

It is as in life. Injuries seem to happen to the very young and the very old. Rookies and second year players are getting their bodies ready for life in the NFL and don't yet know how to play at that speed without getting hurt. They don't yet know when to come off the field and when they can safely to stay out there.

After a few years, they learn, plus the NFL tends to weed out the injury-prone. Then they have a few solid years where players seem less likely to get hurt. Then they get older, into their thirties and lose their resilience.

Do the Pats suffer more injuries due to a fondness for older veterans coupled with a talent for nurturing the draft? I haven't done the research to see the spread of ages. Just curious.

Something tells me Jackson will be injured and not taking up a roster spot all year.
