Chris Brown to make decision

I'm surprised. I know the Pats were interested. Wonder why they didn't make the final two.
Snaps, I imagine. Both the Bears and Titans should have more snaps available to a RB than we do.

It's possible the Pats simply aren't interested enough in him - or offering enough. One thing's for sure, though: some newbie(s) will suggest it's because "Justise Hairston probably looked great in minicamp!"

maybe they didn't want to sign an injury prone player.

We have enough injuries every year, and we don't need a guy who is pretty good when healthy, but never really healthy

Well, I hope he does look good. Really hard to tell with second day RBs. Some make you wonder why they didn't go earlier, and some make you wonder how they gained any yards in college.

Lenny P says Chris Brown will decide shortly which team he will sign with. He has narrowed the list of teams down to two: Tennessee and Chicago.

Who is Brown going to replace on the roster? IMO, no one. Faulk has better hands, is better in blitz pickup, and has carried the load before. Morris is far better as a short yardage back. Evans is the only true FB on the team.

Chris Brown may be better as a full time starter than Faulk and Morris (though I'm not convinced he's better than Morris) but there wouldn't be a role for him on this team. In order to add Brown. we would have to cut from another position.

Can someone suggest player from out group LB/CB/S/ST/OL/WR that, when cut and replaced by Brown, would make the team better.

Corey Mays or LeKevan Smith would both be ones I would cut to add Chris Brown and the team would be better for it.

And money, too. In Chicago, Brown would be looking up at Cedric Benson and Adrian (the other one) Peterson; in Tennessee, it's Lendale White and Chris Henry. Better opportunities for carries than at the NEP? Perhaps, though I suspect that the FO also hasn't yet offered what the Bears and Titans have - a bigger contract.

LenDale came in out of shape and Henry has been umpressive while trying to take snaps from White who missed some time

Whats he get at New England? Behind Maroney..Faulk keeps his role no matter who comes in and Morris was picked up by us..not Brown so we think more highly of him i would guess

if we wanted Brown..we would of contended for him. We probably gave a 1 year offer for cheaper money than the 2 other teams and we are pushing because Maroney is fine and they feel good about Morris replacing Dillon.

nope, i don't think so.

Chris Henry????

Tennessee's 2nd-round pick this year from the U of Arizona; not the Chris Henry who is the bungles' thug WR/criminal.

Based on Remix's post, Brown could sign and immediately contend for the starting RB spot; and Chicago could see Brown as a (poor) replacement for Thomas Jones. I'm still pissed that duh boobs traded him to the jest.

To conclude, it appears as if Brown is headed elsewhere, and the FO here will wait until the start of TC, at the earliest, before it decides if it needs to be back "in the RB business" (as ESPN's Sal Paolantonio once said during the 2004 draft).

Smith maybe, he's just a depth guy and will be inactive for 14 out of 16 weeks. Mays, no. A solid special teams player is more valuable than a 3rd string RB, which is what Brown would be in this offense.

If Maroney is unable to run effectively because of injury and we rely on the Faulk-Morris-Evans committee as our feature RB, you could cut any of several low men on the LB/CB/S/ST/OL/WR depth chart and greatly improve the team.

but thats not an issue. if we felt Maroney wasnt capable or wouldnt be healthy enough..we would of drafted someone or signed some bigger name FA at RB.

Chris Brown would have solidified our Super Bowl hopes considering that right now Maroney's shoulder is probably my greatest concern heading into the season
