I know that beating them last year upset them somewhat, but I had some slow time and peaked in on their NFL general section of their board...

All on the front page..

wow. (They need to get over it). We are focused on the Colts...are we overlooking them?

Last year was their year. I think they would have rolled if they could have gotten by the Pats. They are probably one of maybe three teams that have drafted better than the Pats over the last 6 years, especially ripping off the Giants for Rivers/Merriman - Manning. Marty completely coached them out of that game by (a) wasting that TO in the second half which could have been used for the FG attempt or extra play and (b) not feeding LT the ball nearly enough. They also had two real bad turnovers on the punt coverage botch and the Brown strip post INT. Not to take anything away from the Pats but the Pats won that game with Brady's clutch drive & help from the Chargers. It wasn't like the previous 1 seed upsets of Pitt (01) and Pitt (04) when the Pats simply outplayed the higher seed.

The Chargers had loads of talent and not even a playoff win to show for it. It is tough for them. Luckily the fans out there have the southern california women and weather to look forward to 12 months a year.

No question. Indy on the west coast against that defense? It would have been obliteration.

Losing on their home field has left some deep scars in that fan base. The hope for a win in Foxboro has transcended rational thinking for the younger fans on that board. I think they lose handily to the Pats in week 2. Belichick and staff will coach circles around the Chargers' coaches. There is no way Norv will have his team ready to beat the Pats. Where Marty was an emotional leader, Norv is an X's and O's guy. This a bigger adjustment for the players than many of their fans realize. They may even have a tough time against the Bears opening day, but they should win.

Sure. But LT has the ability to break a for 200 yards o 30 rushes and a few 50 yard screen receptions. Remember this guy had 100 receptions in a season a few years back. Unbelievable. For that reason alone, I'd like to avoid them at all costs in week 19 and 20.

I love how everyone over there is sure that this team is going to fall apart this year:confused:
And how Brady's cap hit will cripple the team next year:confused:

They seem a bit obsessed... but so are fans of other teams. This jus validates that the Pats are the Gold Standard of the NFL these days.

They should be a better team past mid-season. In their division the Broncos are the only ones that can hold them back.

What a bunch of losers. We beat them in the playoffs in a game they should have won. So what? The year before the Broncos beat us in a game we should have won. Did we focus on the Broncos in 2006? Did we spend the off-season having thread after thread of "Broncos suck, We're going to beat the Broncos, Pay back will be sweet, or other stupid threads? They better hope their team is smarter and more focused on what is important then they are.

What I think is funny is how many Charger fans say they hate the Pats. They see us as the evil empire they must defeat in week 2, and for us, the Chargers are a blip on the radar, one game on the path to the playoffs.

What is it with Charger and Dolphin fans? Can't they see that to us, the Colts, Jets and Steelers are the teams we want to squish (Squish the fish was a long time ago.)

From their perspective that loss was a damn emotional one I imagine. I can understand their desire to serve up a thumping come week 2- I know I want an AFCCG rematch with the Colts this year.

What worries me most about this game is the strong words that came out of the Chargers players after that game. Right or wrong it could feed a very aggressive (merriman steroid induced of course) level of play that may cost both sides in injuries.

Thank God Rodney will be back!

Wow, who is so obsessed that they feel the need to criticize a signing of a WR who is nothing more than an extra body for training camp!?

I ususally don't nit-pick spelling because I'm one of the worlds worst spellers. And these forums do not have spell checks.

However Lombardi = Lombardy and Welker = Walker,

It would be great if both Rodney and Junior make big plays that help lead to their defeat.

I bet if you found a Red Sox message board after that 2003 season, it would look the same. This proves that SD fans know the Patriots are the kings. I'll take it.

I find it funny that they think ESPN loves the Pats. I think they love the Colts. I think of Clayton, Pasquerelli, Hodge, Irvin, Jackson.......as not liking the Pats.

If they said Peter King loves the Pats I could agree.

It's truly amazing how many other team's fans are putting blinders on when it comes to Moss.

I loved this exchange....

As a division rival... it is truely sickening...
I would put more $$ on you guys [Miami Dolphins] over the next 5 years than the Pats. They are just trying to put BillyBoy on his boat to retirement much like King Aurthor after he gave back Excalabor to the Lady of the Lake. Its the defination of a swansong, but much like the Bulls after Jordan left what will happen to the Pats next year, a year older, a year slower...

Yeah, we really slowed down by adding guys like AD, Stallworth and Moss. What morons.

I also cannot understand why everyone thinks that we are staging for a final season. For any other team, you would call this a rebuilding year, stockpiling next year's draft (5 first day picks next year).

As excited as I am about this coming season, the future beyond that looks even better.

When do the Pats face these guys? Week 3? I haven't been paying attention in terms of when we are facing the Chargers...

That week is going to be unbearable.
