Those Broncos love those bust defensive linemen.

Yeah, good thing we actually drafted some lineman this time, huh?

It's a sixth round pick. There's stories like TD and Brady, but it's really not going to matter.

Hold the phone! Sporting News's 2006 Scouting Guide has Kennedy as the 17th best DT in the NFL (Wilfork #11 for comparison). Why shouldn't we worry that Denver stole him? Dangit, the Denver defense was already looking good....

I hope you're kidding.

Kennedy is a BUST. He has done nothing, regardless of where he is ranked.

I don't think people start there posts off with Hold the phone! when they are being serious.

That's what I thought too but sometimes around here you never know.

Didn't the Rams draft 2 dt's in the first round a couple years ago? Did the other one go to the Packers?

Doesn't this mean their two Cleveland reclamation projects were washouts, though?

6th round pick for a 1st round DL? They could have had Sullivan, he was drafted higher.:D

I like our gold standard line and backups, thank you very much.

So do I, though I wouldn't mind having Sam Adams as Wilfork's backup.

Think of the marketing possibilities.

I like Sam. As a backup. I hate the Broncs so I hope they're grasping at straws.

Kennedy seems like a washout, I know he dropped like a rock pre draft for some reason. Giving up a young DT for a 6th is a shame. Decent tackles don't grow on trees.

The real mystery is how was Kennedy drafted that high in the first place.

This is proof positive that college scouting is not the science we imagine it is. I'm a PSU fan, and in college, Kennedy's play was underwhelming. He was constantly manhandled, and he had a few run ins with Paterno about his effort. By his senior year, he had become a class act, a troubled kid who had turned himself around and started playing better. He was one of the captains. But he was still being manhandled.

He goes to the combines, and here's this mammoth human being, 330 pounds, and he's running a sub 5.0 40? He shoots up the boards. Too bad he never could play.

As everyone who ever watched him at PSU already knew. Courtney Brown, he was a different story. At PSU he was unstoppable. No one in college football had an answer. But Kennedy was never a very good DT.

Interesting stuff. PSU alum have not fared very well lately in the NFL, for some reason. Maybe that's why Poz fell to the 2nd round. In a way, Joe Pa's PSU football reminds me of Bob Knight's Indiana basketball.

I knew he was a bust by how my time he spent picking himself up off the dirt. If I can see it, how couldn't the scouts? I would like to be a scout but I doubt they pay anything like I make now.

Huh? Like who? I see a lot of PSU guys contributing. Larry Johnson, how has he fared? For every Kennedy, you have a Kim Herring. Even Lavar Arrington had 3 great years before his knees did him in. Tamba Hali had an excellent year for a rookie. I guess we hear about the busts like Courtney Brown or Ki-Jana Carter more than the success stories like Kyle Brady or Jeff Hartings.

Looks like a reclamation project to me. The Donks are aggressively trying to fix their DL. Gotta give em credit for effort anyways, much as I hate them.
