Hey all,

I have an NFL related project for work and I want to track down the "Superfans" from some of the NFL teams. Who are the people in the stands that have become "famous" for the costumes they wear?

Here is who I can think of so far:

Jets: Fireman Ed (I hate this guy BTW, sat near him at last year's Jets/Pats game in NJ and he is a huge attention whore and he spits when he yells)

Redskins: Hoggettes

Redskins: Elderly African American guy who wears the head dress

Redskins: Marching Band

Raiders: Darth Vader, Pharoh and all the other Mad Max creatures from the black hole

Denver: Barrell Man (I think he died, but there may be a new one)

Browns: The Dog Pound (hard hats and bulldog masks)

Patriots: The Minutemen on the sidelines (Anyone here affilitated with that group?)

Patriots: (The guy who paints his head silver with the flying elvis logos)

49'ers: Banjo Man ( I think he may be gone too as I can't recall seeing him last time i was at Candlestick)

Who else is out there?

Does the San Diego Chicken belong on this list?

nope.

I want fans who dress up, not official mascots

I believe the Chicken is not an official mascot. And though he's more associated with the Padres then the Chargers, I'm sure I've seen him on TV at some Chargers games.

I don't believe he died, but I do believe he "retired" from being barrell man.

So he didn't kick the bucket but he did kick the barrell.

LOL

I think that "Ray" the Afro American Cowboy, a Cowboy's Superfan died last year.

Firemen ED, can not have enough bad things happen to him, as far as I'm concerned. If you go a Jets game, they show him getiing in his car in Long Island and driving to the Meadowlands to the "Soprano's" theme music.

Don't forget "Tony the Jailhouse Tiger" the official mascot of the Cinncinati Bengals!

bump

Can anyone help me track down the sideline Minutemen?

I'm not sure the minutemen count, aren't they employed by the Pats? How about the guy they show in the stands that paints his head silver? You've got to have some superfan in you to do that. Also isn't there a minibus in the parking lot painted to look like a big helmet? That's pretty extreme as well.
