The Dolphins are in even more trouble than I thought.

This guy was thoroughly outplayed by Damon Huard last year. Same personnel, same team and Huard put up a 98.0 rating 11TDs and 1 INT, versus Green with a 74.1 rating, 7 TDs and 9 INTs.

Nice move in getting this 34 year old QB for a 4th rounder, Miami!

They will be better and I think their new coach will have an impact on that offense but I still think they are not ready to be contender for the division.

No real sh**-hot receiver, except Gonzales, who after all, is still a tight end... but Trent Green quietly posted huge yardage and decent TD/INT numbers year in and year out.

You see this as a Culpeper redux, basically?

If it's the latter, Miami is not expecting a Super Bowl, my friend. They'd be happy to knock off another wild card team and be offered up as a ritual sacrifice in the divisional round to NE, SD, or Indy.

I think Trent Green - if healthy - gets them to that point, assuming a few other dominos fall (no matter how old he is.) But that's the "upside" of the move... 8-9 wins is my more realistic guess.

Trent Green had the best running games in the league for most of his time with Kansas City, as well as on offensive line that featured two future Hall of Famers, and arguably the greatest tight end to ever play the game. Green is not as good as he was a few years ago either.

The Brady comparison's are laughable. Green's been in the league forever. Check out his stats in his first 7 years, if you can find any. Then compare his stats under defenseless **** Vermiel with his stats under any other HC, including the Herminator. Remember how upset he was when Herm was named and the focus was going to shift to defense in KC? And he's 37 coming off a season in which he was literally knocked out of the starting role on his team and replaced by a career backup. Whom Herm accidentally misplaced in the playoffs and then was unable to locate because he was too busy making faces at his non existent offense under Green pissing his first season away...Although 'Phin fans will crow that he's being reunited with a guy who coached the Redskins when Green was there...and couldn't crack that rotation either and was their third string QB...

The choices in this poll are too extreme. Green is the best bet for the Phins at QB, and makes them a better team. He has some pretty good talent around him (Chambars, Marty Booker, Brown, Ginn, Lorenzo Booker) but will also be playing behind a below average line. He's a good placeholder and teacher until John Beck is ready.

On the other hand, Miami's offensive success is difficult to project because we really don't know how these players fit into Ken Cameron's scheme. Things could fall into place pretty well over there (San Diego's offensive line seemed to come together overnight a few years back), or all the pieces could be wrong.

In all, there's too much unsettled right now in Miami, and their big offseason additions (Green, Porter) are more likely to put butts into seats then to push the team over the top. They have just enough star power to be competitive week to week, but I don't see them winning 8 games given their schedule.

Yes, the choices are too extreme. You can't label the deal as another "blunder." At the same time, he will be no savior for the Dolphins. He's a decent quarterback, who will provide some good veteran leadership. There is a fear that he is prone to concussions, and one hit can take him out during the season. He's a decent "fill-in" for the Dolphins. Nothing more, nothing less.
