Are the Patriots only the 9th greatest franchise?

It may come to some as a shock but the Patriots are only the 9th best franchise ever according to this ranking on rankopedia. The leaders are the usual suspects: the Steelers, the Cowboys, the Niners and the Packers. Don't you think the Pats belong to the top 5?

The Pats are a borderline top 5 franchise all time. but I could see that bias against them b/c they have grown to their stature in more modern time. Not to diminish the Past tho. In no order, my top 5 would be Dallas, Green Bay, 49ers, Steelers, Miami. I think its not really that big a shock where the Pats are ranked. Think where they were 10 years ago compared to now franchise wise.

they should definitely replace some of those teams.

Nice try. One in the same poster it appears with a clever switch to a different name. Ah, the things trolls attempt to try and rile up the message board. Slow day for the Jets fans?

Hah!

Look, most on this board don't trifle with all-time lists. It's irrelevant simply because our team is still involved in making history. But you can try and have your fun . . .

I have no problem where we were placed. The only team rated ahead of them that I would question are the Bears. In the superbowl era they haven't done nearly as much as the Pats or Denver. Maybe its there work in the 30's that got them this kind of elevation.

"Rankopedia?" Did NEM create that website?

(OK, I guess not. Bush is only #4 on the "World's Evilest People Ever." I'm sure NEM would have him #1, Cheney #2, Weis #3, and McDaniels #4.)

I think I could honestly move them into sixth place, ahead of the Fins, Skins and Broncos.

But, assuming that we're talking about "Best Franchise in the history of Professional Football in the US," I'd have a hard time moving them ahead of any of the listed top five franchises: Steelers, Packers, 49'ers, Cowboys and Bears, however we might order those five.

I think this is actually three lists:

--Best Franchise before the SB era: Packers, Browns and Bears
--Best Franchise of the SB era before the cap and free agency: Niners, Boys and Steelers
--Best Franchise of the SB era after the cap and free agency: Patriots, Boys and Broncos.

Think where San Fransisco was a while back and compare them to now. Same with all those other teams.

Um your reaching and making yourself look pathetic. I do not have an alternate name. Why would I create two names on a Pats site? I post 10x as much on jets forums. I am not a troll just someone trying to have intelligent football conversations. I already made friends with some of the posters with my sesame street pic :)

I agree with you, I just think they shaft the Pats a little b/c 1) its harder to put them in perspective when they are currently in their franchises golden era 2) they overvalue early eras and do not take into account salary cap etc as said before

The IP Addresses are different.

IMO, this Jets fan has actually been kinda good and not too trollish (especially after he deleted the 1/2 page sized pic in his sig yesterday of the steroided up Thomas Jones). And WHY would he publish this ranking when the Jets are listed at #23 in it? So the accusation, in this case seems, improbable.

Frankly, the Pats being at #9 all-time makes sense. If the ranking is based on the past 10 years, you'd have to say #1, but it isn't. As a kid growing up in the early 70's and never EVER getting to see the Pats on TV , or even being discussed seriously, the fact that HISTORICALLY they are ranked #9 is amazing. I hope they climb

Da Bears at #5, however, is a joke.

They had 2 good decades - - the 30's and the 80's. The rest, until last year, was dreck.

I liked the Sesame Street pic.

Right, but that's easily overcome. I've got a couple different IP addresses, two PCs 3 feet from one another with two different ISPs.

Thanks, I'll take your word for it. Some of his other posts appear to be typical troll fodder. I'm not sure what the attraction is with some of these posters, however. Either they want to discuss football, which is fine and we've had many good posters from other teams, or chafe. He appears to want to chafe much of the time. So be it . . .

No... in NEM's world Earnie Zampese ranks in the lowest level of Dante's Inferno...

Guys, this thread is losing focus! We don't care about Jets fans posting here. Last time I checked the Jets were not even in the top 20. But the Patriots are still #9 and that's what matters.

I didnt post this thread, I commented on it. See the guy above me, that is my supposed alter ego? lol. Do what you gotta do track my ip address if you need to. Some of you guys are so idiotic when you see one Jets fans posting who says nothing offensive or anything troll worthy you automatically shut him down b/c he does'nt root for the same team as you. W/e good luck on the year see you opening day. I don't need to talk trash to validate how I feel about my team.
