Jets Show Interest In Samuel

Re: Jets Show Interest In Samuels

Glad we don't have any players named Samuels... Phew!

Re: Jets Show Interest In Samuels

I'd take the Jets round 1 pick in a second. They are always one Chad Pennington hit away from going 4-12, 5-11.

Re: Jets Show Interest In Samuels

It does seem that ever since Asante visited the Jest, he's gone from a happy camper to an unhappy camper.

I think the Jest poisoned the water. This is probably how it went. "Asante this is what we would offer you if those unreasonable Patriots would just be reasonable and let you go for a 2nd rounder". They know that the Patriots aren't going to accept any less than one 1st rounder and more.

If the Jest are the team offering Asante the big contract, the Patriots should stick to the 2 first round pick compensation. Screw the Jest.

Re: Jets Show Interest In Samuels

A round 1 and a round 3 would suffice. Jets are looking like a .500 team anyhow. No easy cake walk schedule this season and other teams know what to expect vs. them. Jets take a step backwards and will be lucky to exceed .500.

Of course this is not taking injuries into my equation but with the addition of Thomas Jones, they are going to be back in the playoff hunt.

Sounds plausible. They definitely seem to play the role of spoiler whenever they can.

That team is not built around Chad Pennington. I have a good feeling if Chad ever went down they would actually do better. Seriously.

I wouldnt trade Samuel to the Jets for 1 first rounder, i would demand the 2nd 1st rounder as well. Other teams i'd be willing to take a first but not for in house rivals.

Re: Jets Show Interest In Samuels

The Jets or any other team can talk all they like. If they want him, its simple, just give us two 1st rounders and call it a day. Somehow I find it hard to believe that ANY team would give 2 1sts for him. Am I wrong in thinking this is one reason Asante hasn't signed his tag yet? I know he's got till July but other teams can't officially offer until he signs, right? Wake me up when the media speculation and manipulation is over and real deals are being discussed.

The similarities to last year are getting scary.

******* Jets.

Actually i think its the other way around teams can offer him contracts before he signs because he is technically a Free Agent. But after he signs the tender he is our property and other teams offering him a deal would be tampering.

Re: Jets Show Interest In Samuels

I dont see this ever materializing to much. 1) the Pest would never let him go to the Jets in a trade 2) The only way I could see they would let him go to the Jets would be for a steep price of 2 1st round picks 3) I just think this is a well calculated plan by Tangini and crew to cause heartache in Pest land and to try and raise the value of his contract 4) Dyson is a good corner still young and with the trade up for Revis this doesnt make much sense unless if you can get him w/o parting with much compensation.

I think we are giving up on Asante way too soon. All this talk about

holding out for ten weeks may be just bull. About a month from now

I expect the dialogue between his agent and the Pats may resume. It

is much to early too have any serious negotiations.

Yep, if we need to let Samuel languish on the sideline for a year, maybe two, so his skills go in the ****ter... THEN trade him to the Jets.

Sure they would, if the offer was right. When they traded Bledsoe to Buffalo, it showed they weren't exactly afraid of trading within the division.
2) The only way I could see they would let him go to the Jets would be for a steep price of 2 1st round picks
Well, if they did that then it wouldn't be "letting him go" as much as it would "having no choice."
3) I just think this is a well calculated plan by Tangini and crew to cause heartache in Pest land and to try and raise the value of his contract
Except they can't really raise the value of a franchise tender, now can they...?

Bostonherald.com, their website swamped by ten people actually reading it at the same time, has crashed. Out of mercy, maybe we should take turns trying to read the article..... :p

Dont worry Pats fans, if anything I was thinking this could be a positive for the Pats. Could'nt you see the Jets try and bluff so the Pats would have to give him a big contract and then the Pats just either A) up his value for another team to trade for him allowing then to get a beter pick or b) allow him to sign a tender w/ the jets and collect 2 1's

My thinking as well. Jets=ankle biting tweakers:D

Good news article for me. It says several teams will pay him which means we'll find one that'll also trade for him. No, I don't want to lose him, no, a draft pick doesn't help us now. But if we aren't re-signing him, as long as we get good trade value I'm fine with it.
