anyone else sick of the comparison of manning vs. brady?

most sports analysts are always flip flopping on who is better....2-3 years ago, 9 out of 10 analysts say brady is far better than manning....now that manning finally won a ring, 9 out of 10 say manning is the better...

i even read on an article on espn.com today, and one analyst thinks the great debate 50 years from now will be "romo or manning"

romo??? he starts off 5-1, and finishes what? 3-3? and now he's already replacing tom brady in the new millenium best qb??

wow....just wow...

think about it....

peyton was a #1 overall selection in his draft...brady was a 6th rounder...

peyton SHOULDVE already have had 3 rings, as far as expectations were concerned, but the 6th rounder brady has 3, going onto 4 this upcoming season...and peyton FINALLY won ONE, when he was 30 years old

some analysts say, well brady had a better defense during his superbowl seasons, - well thats cause brady's defense didnt use a cover 2 scheme, where you let the opposing offense catch the ball, and the defenders swarm to the player for minimal gain....

..brady had a better defense b/c the pats organization didnt put all their cap money into the offense

yes, manning has a few mvp's and some records, and other future records, but that's what you should expect when you have guys like edge james, marvin harrison, and reggie wayne for so many years,

brady had different receivers, who werent as highly touted as wayne/harrison and he's had a few runnings backs in his backfield

it just bugs me, b/c in 5 years when both manning and brady are going into retirement, 9 out of 10 analyst will be talking about how much better brady was than manning....

now lets also check the qb matchups in recent superbowls between brady and manning

2001- brady vs. warner(along with the "best show on turf"
2003- brady vs. delhomme
2004- brady vs. mcnabb

2006- manning vs. REX GROSSMAN

warner had marshall faulk in his prime, and they were the self proclaimed "best show on turf"
delhomme was an undrafted free agent, but he was no rex grossman, even last year, many people though the panthers were preseason favorites to win the 2006 superbowl, let alone make it to the superbowl
mcnabb is pretty much the "karl malone" of football...malone never won a nba title b/c he was in the michael jordan era, and mcnabb will probably never win a superbowl b/c he's in the brady/manning era......and according to that one analyst on espn.com, mcnabb wouldve been in the romo/manning era

rex grossman........enough said, its rex grossman....he openly admitted that he wasnt prepared and didnt much care for the last game of the season against the packers....that says a lot about a qb....at least in carolina(2003) and st. louis(2001) the home team werent crying for the backup qb to replace their starting qb...grossman and greise

what does everyone else think?

I completely agree. Manning has had far more talent around him, and to compare them is unfair, even though Brady is easily better. Brady hasn't had people cover up his bad passes by making amazing catches.

I agree 100%...but lets relax, and enjoy the upcoming season. The world will see that Brady has always been the better QB, now that he has comparable talent. They have been 1a and 1b with Brady throwing too average wideouts....and Manning throwing to two all pro's. How anyone can over look that is beyond me. Brady is going to absolutely tear up defenses this year.

I can't wait see teams $hitting there pants on Sunday's

its funny when you still here people say brady is just a system qb where manning is one of the best ever. but that whole colts system is built around manning and the offense, brady has had to work with a crew if new wrs and backs. the system qb is manning, because they give him everything he needs

I saw that too and I think that just was a mistake on the reporter's part. He said Romo but instantly started talking about Brady. He said nothing else of Romo.

This is another case of Mediaheads trying to hear themselves talk. Sorry to say Brady was 3 min or a first down of going to another super bowl.. It just did not work out that way..

I personally love the rivalry and all the comparisons and so forth every game between them. We as New England area sports fan have not seen anything like this since Bird/ Magic and Russell / Chamberlain. We are watching something special and I am loving it.

Yea, I love to see it, and I believe Brady is the better QB, but hasn't had the weapons. Manning has had it good his whole career when it comes to his wide outs. Lets see if manning could get 2,000 yards with Caldwell and the rest of last years receiving corps. Then give Brady Peyton's targets...

Read the article, in the very next line he corrects himself, and states that the debate is Manning/Brady.

It is a very poorly delivered joke.

Last season I gave up arguing b/c watching Brady throw to guys like Caldwell and Gabriel made me realize that a true comparison was impossible.

Now, after watching Manning lead the Colts to the SB, it made me realize how pointless the argument is. Who cares if Brady is better or not, I just want the ring. We can bicker when these guys are retired.

Yep, I am thoroughly sick of the endless Manning vs. Brady comparisons. So I hope you don't mind, but I didn't finish your long post comparing Manning and Brady. ;)

Not really sick of it. It is pretty entertaining when you read the stuff people will write on other sites, as well as here, when comparing the two. IMO, Brady is the better QB. This year should help him out because all of the new personnel Brady now has to play with. I'll take it for what it is, one of the greatest QB rivalries of all time. Right up there with the days of Elway, Montana, and Marino!

I must have been in a coma 2-3 years ago. Either that or really drunk.

Peytonsbetter.:D

Seriously, you can't fault Peyton for what he SHOULD have done. Every qb SHOULD have won the superbowl last year. Heck, Tom Brady SHOULD have won another one last year. But, he didn't. Instead, he threw a season-ending interception. You win some, you lose some.

Peyton is Dan Marino, WITH a ring. He won the Super-Bowl with a rookie running back and a historically bad defense. By the time he's done(providing he stays healthy), he'll own ALL the records for his position. You can't argue with that.

Both are all time greats, but Peytonsbetter.

Amen, a couple damn good QBs who will generate many arguments from the "old-timers" about who was better after they've retired. Last I looked, they were still writing history . . .

Why do you think that the Tuna exited Stage Right? He knew that:
1) TO had been there a season run Bledsoe out of the league with his drops, and was now full on his destroy-a-Team mode.

2) the other reason was that the UDFA QB who never threw a pass for four years as a third string QB got a chance started good, then the league Coaches studied tape and caught up to his limits.

Would you want to ruin your image witht a 5-11 record and everyone saying the old man lost it? Hence Exit Stage RIIIIGGHHTt!!

The Cowboys will be able to use Clevelands' draft pick obtained to draft Quin Brady will be ued to select a QB in round 1 of the 2008 draft.

It's a contemporary Elway vs. Montana.

The general consensus is Montana is the best, but then everyone thinks Elway was the best talent.

It's a matter of perception and circumstance. Two things that people will fight because of and fight over until the end of time. Either way, everyone wins, but we still fight anyway because everyone winning isn't acceptible.

The analysis for most writers boils down to this: who won the last super bowl?

If the Pats win this year expect Brady to be #1 in most preseason publications.

For me, it all boils down to a single question: If you're about to play in the Superbowl, who would you rather have as your quarterback--honestly, without prejudice. My choice is Brady and it wouldn't really astonish me if Manning would make the same choice, that is, if he wasn't Manning.
