Turbulent times for some NFL teams

Curt Bury has spent only two years as the liaison between the statistics and the press at the State Tournament, but you can bet he'll be missed.

The 75-year-old Bury, who recently had replacement surgery on both knees, will be moving into a Maryland assisted living facility with Judy, his wife of 52 years.
-----
Bury, who has been the Jefferson High baseball statistician since 1999, developed a computer program for football statistics in 1983 and got to try it out with the New England Patriots.

"They bought it for $1,000 with the provision that I show up at every game and stand behind the person who was actually going to key it into the computer," Bury said. "There were bugs with my program, just like anything else.

"I did that for five years. I got free access to the Patriot games, all the clam chowder I can eat. Even went down to the 1985 Super Bowl against the Bears.

"My job was bouncer. I stood outside the Patriots clubhouse and checked credentials of people who wanted to come in and get a free ticket."

That goes back to the story about Belichick coaching Lua on what his reads/assignments were. He turned his head to have him make his first read, then showed him where to look to see if he needed to help another LB, then to check back on his first read to keep his assignments clear. Nice to see the picture of hands on coaching!

There's another one of BB and Justin Rogers. Good pics!

I'm surprised the Chargers didn't make the "Turbulent 10." I'd rank them ahead of Oakland.

Yeah, certainlyk more turbulent than the Dolphins. Just because they are involved in trade negotiations doesn't make them turbulent.

And though I agree that the Colts are running smoothly, the thought behind his logic escapes me:

7. Indianapolis Colts: All they lost was running back Dominic Rhodes and a measure of manly cred when Peyton Manning checked in as co-host of Saturday Night Live.
I thought sure they lost more than Rhodes, and that Rhodes wasn't even the most important loss.

They lost Cato June too.

howThe colts didn't have a good offseason as they were cap constrained. How would you feel about losing:

Corey Simon DL starter
Montae Reagor DL Starter
Cato June OLB starter
Chad Gilbert OLB benched ex-starter
Jason David CB starter
Nick Harper CB starter
Mike Doss S starter

and

Dominic Rhodes RB reserve
Stokley WR reserve

Seven starters of eleven on a piss poor defense. Nine respectable vets. O well, no big loss I guess...

I see no reason not to pick them as a favorite as a Super Bowl repeater. Wouldn't you??
